I had court yesterday. Well after court i was talking to my attorney and I said "she can have her own kid and leave mine the $%&& alone" I know your words have power so did I do something bad? Yes, I did say it loud enough my ex and his wife heard and knew I was talking about them.

How do you construe verbally expressing your passionate opinion as doing something bad? Now, it might be a bad action if you bitch slapped someone but voicing an opinion loud enough for certain parties to over hear is not actionable. Possibly your lawyer suggested that you pipe down so as not to appear hostile or provocative. Judges arent swayed by emotion & understand passions run high in the pressure of court hearings but the judge didn't hear it outside the courtroom. You possibly didn't get a chance to express your self within the strict confines of the hearing. But a hearing means to-be-heard &'you wanted to be heard BY the significant parties in person & not thru a court official. So you spoke up.
As for magical potentcy of a statement: it's not like you'd cursed someone to never bear children; quite the opposite in fact according to your quote. Just leaving yours alone seems like an OK thing.

My concern was magical consequences. Seeing how I was angry and it was said with disdain I worried that it would have bad consequences on my family or me.

There is a Buddhist idea within the 8 fold path I like to try and live my best to- which is right speech.
It is just an ideal I like to think upon- to consider to try to better our world- environment. I practice witchcraft not Buddhism itself, but I much respect Buddhist ideas and thought.
No. I do not believe on a magical level what you said had the power behind it intentfully to cause either malice or repercussions for said malice.
While I do feel we all should be aware of ourselves, our nature and behavior- including that of speech, I do not in any way feel you should hold on to any guilt or blame upon yourself.
No I do not think in the way of magic that you did anything bad per se- or cast a bad spell here.

To carry magical potency words must be fueled by intent, not just emotional response. To be actionable (have repercussions) the intent must be for harm. You can judge for yourself to what degree your words & intent qualify.
