Witchcraft Isn't Like Harry Potter

Post by SnowCat »

I really liked the Harry Potter series. It was very entertaining. I even took a quiz on which Harry Potter character I would be. I got Dumbledore, which I thought was pretty cool. My oldest granddaughter got Draco Malfoy, as her mother and I had predicted. With that being said, the only thing Harry Potter has in common with witchcraft, is the hard work required to accomplish anything.

Nothing worth having or doing is going to come easily. Some people have natural gifts for certain things. They still have to work at it to do it well, and do it correctly. Magick isn't a quick fix for anything. If you want it, be ready to put in the work.

When one is young and new to this path it is tempting
to use magick for any and all things.
Like Mrs. Weasley said, "just because you're "old"
enough, don't mean you can whip your wand out
for enerything!" ...and the twins just shrug !
SnowCat...
I've seen read this in your remarks frequently...
Maybe putting it in it's own thread it might
sink in ???

I'm hoping the idea sinks in. That's why I put this sticky here. Anything worth having takes work. My current personal project is getting into a shape other than round. And it's going to take work. If waving my wand would work, I'd be tall and slender. I'll settle for being healthy.

Please note: no tails were stepped on, yanked, or otherwise harmed in this thread. ::coolglasses::

Finally someone made a thread on this topic :)
Yeah it is no such things as quick fix to get god results, it all takes practise. And ås mention sone things are easier to do by someone than others, due to the fact that we are all different.

You're welcome. It was post this sticky, or lose my mind. Herding cats is easier.

The herding cats comment gave me a hilarious mental image of someone waving their arms around at a group of cats sleeping in a field, wholly ignoring whoever is trying to herd them.

Not in a field. In the hallway, on the bed, on the stairs. Pretty much wherever I need them not to be at a given moment.

I like what Msmollimizz said, "When one is young and new to this path it is tempting to use magick for any and all things." When I'm new to witchcraft and younger, I was tempted to use magick although I know nothing about it. I remembered doing a money spell so that I can study overseas (very, very expensive). It didn't work of course, probably somewhere went wrong. I'm kind of ashamed wanting that quick fix but I don't think much about doing spells now :)

I mean, I would love to do the vast majority of spells in Harry Potter, but I think Apparating is hands down the most useful one. Save on commute time, for sure.

*slaps hand to head*. That answers why HP spells never work for me! I thought there's something wrong with my wand or my pronunciation or something. Can't even cast simple hover charm. Well 'cept in my dreams. But I can also fly and breathe fire in my dreams too.
