Ink Recipe
Does anyone have a recipe for dragon's blood ink and/or black ink? I have decided to make some instead of buy it.

A traditional recipe for Dragon's Blood Ink
1 teaspoon Dragon's Blood Resin (powdered)
15 teaspoons alcohol
1 teaspoon gum arabic (ground)
Soak the powdered resin in the alcohol until dissolved, then add
the ground gum arabic. Filter through a cloth and store in a dark bottle.

Alternate Recipe
3-4 ounces of red or purple India ink
2 teaspoons Dragon's Blood Resin (powdered)
15 drops Dragon's blood oil
Blend thoroughly. Filter and store in a dark bottle

I'm pretty sure Scott Cunningham outlines a way to make a black ink out of soot called "lampblack" in his book ..."The complete book of incense oils and brews". Everyone should have a copy. This guy was a master herbalist, and knows his stuff, it's a wealth of info on making your own concoctions.
Don't know about the dragons blood though, maybe just get some red India ink and crush a wee bit of Dragons blood resin to a powder and add it in a little at a time to see what happens. Then at least you have something with the essence. ( the ink on the shelf is probably just red India ink anyway with a fancy name) when you add your own energy and effort to a magical item it is way more powerful. Good luck, FirebirdFlys

Thanks for the info and the recipe.

If you look online at some calligraphy websites you might be able to find some oak gall powder or some ground walnut powder to make ink. It is just a matter of adding some distilled water to make the ink. I use it alot in calligraphy.
Re: Ink Recipe
The calligraphy sites had recipes too thanks.
