The 'New' Zodiac

Post by corvidus »

I don't know if this has been brought up, but apparently there is a new zodiac?
According to the Minnesota Planetarium Society, here is where the real signs of the Zodiac should fall. Get ready for your world to change forever.

Capricorn: Jan. 20-Feb. 16.
Aquarius: Feb. 16-March 11.
Pisces: March 11-April 18.
Aries: April 18-May 13.
Taurus: May 13-June 21.
Gemini: June 21-July 20.
Cancer: July 20-Aug. 10.
Leo: Aug. 10-Sept. 16.
Virgo: Sept. 16-Oct. 30.
Libra: Oct. 30-Nov. 23.
Scorpio: Nov. 23-29.
Ophiuchus: Nov. 29-Dec. 17. (Yep, this one is new — read all about the Ophiuchus way of life here)
Sagittarius: Dec. 17-Jan. 20.

I'm curious. Obviously this new and astronomically accurate star position chart should be relevant for newborn babes, but how about myself, 29 years old?
I'd probably need a degree in both astronomy and astrology to figure it out.

Other questions. Has anyone switched? Are 13 signs really necessary?
I'd be interested in hearing some thoughts on this new correspondence chart.

It's complicated. I remember reading into it at the time. It wasn't that the 13 constellation had been there all along, but that was a new development. It only effects you if you were born after the 13th constellation showed up. But, I have not incorporated the new sign into any other practices. It would be interesting to see how to incorporate into tarot.

If I remember correctly, the Celtic astrology system has 13 divisions. I don't know about other systems, not having studied astrology.

Historically ? In reality ? No.

(In summary and in very broken English :D)

The most constant planet was named [The star of the] Master of the Year, Master of the Sky, Guardian of Order and Stability. "Jupiter" by Roman, "Zeus" by Greek, "Marduk" by Mesopotamian, etc, etc...

This very constant planet made its revolution in 12 years, the "zone" that Jupiter run in one year is a "zodiac sign". After the men added constellations but the constellations are unequal, zodiac sign yes, because these are Jupiter mansions. Ophiuchus is just a new constellation, but it's not a jupiter mansions and foreign to the zodiacal logic. :)

Are you saying that the 12 'houses' of western astrology are actually 12 Jupiter 'Houses'?

Hum, no.

12 zodiac signs = 12 jovian mansions.

In english, we use the term "Mansion" for make the difference with the "Houses".

Like the "lunar mansions" for example. :)

Folks have been talking about it for years. Here is a video a pal of mine made about it: https://youtu.be/ahieWH3a8SA
