By the Chinese calendar I'm a (yin) wood ox - flexible yet still stubborn. ;) Always really felt more attached to my Chinese sign than my western one.

The site linked in the original post actually has the exact dates, so be careful to pay attention to that. For a very long time I thought I was a tiger, because many sources just give a flat year, when the Chinese calendar is lunar based so it does not match up to our calendar year exactly! If you were born in January or February it's something to double check.

I found this out as, when my little sister was actually, ya know, little (about 7/8) she was very interested in anything Chinese... due to a friend at primary school being of Chinese heritage. Well, trying to be a good big sister I thought for her birthday I'd get her something Chinese zodiac related... and then wanted to figure out her zodiac - of course I just saw 'year born' (I was still an unknowledgeable teen) and went with that - until the till where it turns out she was the other animal :P

If i'm not wrong, it's not just the year, the month, dates and time can change the elements (fire, metal, water etc). But the animal remains of course.

Every lunar year has an animal, and either a yin or yang element associated with it, so anyone born during that lunar year will always share those yearly associations. That said, there are some systems which do go into giving additional signs and elements for the hour, day, or season when one was born - but no matter what, they still have the yearly association.

It's a bit like how anyone born from Jan 20th to Feb 18th is going to be an Aquarius in the western system, which is always an air sign, but more detailed charts also give you signs based on hour of birth and other such details.

Hello, Haidan26,
We would like to know a bit more about you, apart from your Chinese zodiac sign. May I suggest you go and make an introduction in the Member Profiles & Introductions section? Thank you.

I'm Earth Rabbit! I actually didn't know about elements being a part of the Eastern Zodiac until it was mentioned here.
