Dream about a spider - what does it mean?

I had a dream about a spider last night. I have no idea what kind of spider it was, but it had markings very similar to that of a male black widow, but much smaller and more delicate. During this dream, the spider would randomly crawl on me. I took great care not to hurt me and acted as a protector. We seemed to have some sort of telepathic communication going on; I knew what the spider was saying despite it never saying a word throughout the whole dream.

At one point in the dream, the spider bit someone who had tried to hurt me. The person ended up dying before the dream cut to another scene. The spider had fallen into a toilet (I don't know. I found it weird, too, but I'm just going to roll with it.) and I thought that it was dead, and so I flushed the toilet, but it crawled back out, alive and unscathed. I was ecstatic. We continued to go on more random adventures afterwards, most of which consisted of walking around the house and getting in trouble.


I felt this intense connection with the spider, like I had known him all my life. I wanted to care for him and protect him. It felt like he was family to me. Somehow, I knew he felt the same way. I felt so blissful and calm throughout the dream, like I was warm and safe. The spider's name was not mentioned in this dream, though I have a feeling of deja vu, like I had had a similar dream in the past and I should know his name even though I don't.

I'm not certain, but I think this could've been one of my spirit guides because of how close I felt to it. I've been getting better at interpriting my own dreams, but I rarely have dreams like this where I have such strong emotions towards an insect (or animal) of any kind, especially a spider.

I kept feeling like your dream reminded me of something. I finally figured out what. Aragog, from Harry Potter. Harry didn't have such good luck with him, but Aragog had been Hagrid's friend. Then I had a spider crawling around on the faucet when I got in the shower. He's crawling around in the bathtub tonight, so at least he didn't drown.

LFA, i think you're right in your understanding of the relationship. Maybe illustrating the friendship was the intention of the dream.

Possibly. I did meet someone new recently, and we have been getting closer and forming a friendship. That could be it!
