Soliloquy of the Scapegoat

Post by Wricker Dreadtemper »

Be wary of the purest evil humans ever faced
wrapped up inside a caric'ture composed in pious haste:
the image of my dark red skin, goat-like below the waist,
expressing all the bigotry on which that form was based.

You see, the wolves in woolen suits need boogeymen to blame
for all the rules and scriptures of their money-making game,
to keep their mindless flocks in line and tithing "in God's name",
a 'gospel of prosperity' that really is a sham(e)!

The lambs who find the wherewithal to see how they've been used
are subsequently demonized, scapegoated, and abused.
Thereby, in consolation to defendants so accused,
they walk the path of Lucifer, Yours Truly, disabused!

When so-called "men of God" are at the root of mankind's ills,
the cure is our denunciation of their evil wills,
to bear in mind that "Satan" was the fruit of such men's' quills —
the quintessential Scapegoat of the sort of 'Faith' that kills.

So, speaking as the bearer of the image of that goat,
I pray that all will heed the moral of this anecdote;
which is, when you've discovered what you thought was good was NOT,
don't be afraid to see I'm not as evil as you thought!

Amen, poet.
The map is not the territory, the facet is not the jewel.
