Hey there, Felis here!

Post by Felis »

Hello everyone, greetings!

I'm Felis, a 19 years old girl! Nice to meet you all.

I am pretty intimidated because, the major part of the wiccans here has few years of practicing behind them, while I only started knowing about the existence of witches one month ago. You see, I come from France, and here, unless you are born in a Wiccan family, you will never hear about that kind of things. We all have a scientific mind in my family, so it was extremely hard at first to believe. I discovered the witch community thanks to tumblr so I guess it’s even more shameful. (I don’t really know :? )
I got immediately interested all of the aspects: the stones, the plants, the stars, the cards, the sigils, etc… (erm except the grimoire, I still struggle with that); I started practicing with books and tumblr posts but, it was like walking in a plain dark room, with no one to share with, and it’s really hard to keep believing in the family I’m in. I have to stay closeted, not because my parents would ban me from doing crafts, but because they would put me in a psychiatric hospital, clearly.
So that’s why I’m here, I wanted to share and have some witches friends!

I'm just starting to learn, so uhm sorry if I'm not really helpful. First step for me is to finally understand the difference between a grimoire and a book of shadow!
I hope we will get along!

Blessed be! :fairy:

Welcome. Not everyone here is Wiccan. Some of us are pagans of another path. Some of us have been on a path for decades, and others are still finding a path. Those of us who have been at all of this for a long time, are in our 50's and 60's. There's nothing wrong with being new to your path.

Hello Felis,

Nice to meet you! We are practically neighbours, i live in Germany.

You picked the right place to read, ask questions and learn about the craft. Everyone started somewhere and somewhen und many come from non witches families.

(So sorry sorry for the late response, uni is back, got to keep the good work!)

I visited multiples times Germany, especially in Bayern, I love it, it's very traditional and modern at the same time!

My biggest fear is to offend anyone, I learned that witchcraft is based on beliefs, religious or not. There is still this part of me that has a hard time believing. I truly want to though!

The craft is always very Personal thing. You got that right! To some it is more a Religion. What is it to you? What do you believe?

I remember how i felt after the first two books or so that i read. Moving forward will be easier if you know what you feel and think. This may Chance through out time. That is ok! And good :fairy:

You don't realky need to worry about offending people here. We tend to be pretty understanding. On the rare occasions that someone causes an offense, the admin/mod/support team handles it. A few people have been escorted out, but that was only after multiple problems.

To Blue moon : That's an interesting question! I believe in nature and myself, the two combined can do great things! I'm still learning/studying the wiccan religion, because I want to have my own idea of what whitchcraft, and I also want to be able to put myself in someone else shoes! What about you?

Right now I am reading a book recommanded by a very nice tumblr witch: "Wicca guide for the solitary practitioner" by Scott Cunningham! I realy love it.

To Snow Cat : I'm a pretty harmless person, if I offend anyone it's not on purpose :) I already love the community

Something which might help you with belief is to connect daily to Nature in little ways. Use your normal senses to experience with. Breathe deep & smell the seasonal changes in the air while you walk between uni buildings. To a pagan everything is alive & has spirit. Greet the earth and sky every time you walk out doors as if you did believe they hear you. Let yourself feel the life force radiating all around. Feel & pay attention to your body's response to the sun & to a breeze. Observe birds and listen to their different songs as they talk with each other. Because they really are communicating.

And there is science within witchcraft. There are repeatable formulas we call spells, & methods of focussing our concentration & emotional energy that reliably achieves the spell casting mind set, what is called a "witch's knowing." The mind is a tool we can be trained to use. It's not haphazard or accidental. There are natural electro-magnetic energies that we adapt to our intentions. We recognize them in Nature by their effects on our bodies & that's why we practice being connected to Nature.

Spirit Talker : Yeah you're right! Now that I read a lot about Witchcraft and everything linked to it, I understand that Science and Witchcraft are not two opposite things, magic is just an energy not discovered yet, without any scientic word defining it.
Actually I was already doing that, greeting all my little cacti, whatching them for a few minutes. Now I do it with a lot more confindence!
Thank you for all your advices, you don't realise how much you help ♥

Hi and thank you Intheflatfield and Lady Lilith! I will!
