Love spell gone wrong

So every time I do a love / candle spell to find somebody new and fall in love it always Brings back old lovers and people I don't want anything to do with. Is there something I'm doing wrong with the spell? Could it be something I'm doing wrong?

Love spells in general are a form of manipulation of another's free will. You will not find many who support it and they tend to backfire on the castor with good reason.

Even if it wasn't cast on anybody..but you're just lonely looking for love?

More practical means rather than magical are the best way, like going out to meet new people. You never know when love will strike. Love isn't on a schedule and neither should you be, it needs to take its own course to finding you otherwise it just opens up heaps of heartache and bad luck.

Ok so I know that magic can go both ways. Now suppose I wanted to do a candle spell for friends not anybody but just for myself , do you think it will bring unwanted people in my life?

You may well find the answers you're looking for, and some extra information that you hadn't thought to look into, simply by reading through some of the previous questions asked and answered.

I'm waaaayyy too new to Wicca to be offering Wiccan advice, but I have a lot of life experience and have picked up a few things along the way. What I'm hearing from you is a life out of balance. Perhaps rather than focusing on bringing anyone special into your life, it might be best to focus on becoming more healthy emotionally, intellectually and spiritually. Loneliness is often a symptom of a deeper problem of imbalances or malnutrition of the heart, mind and spirit. If we are healthy and strong then healthy and strong people are naturally drawn to us. Like often attracts like.

If your life feels empty, fill it with things/projects/education/etc that you find meaningful. If your life has toxic people/things/etc do some house cleaning and get rid of them. Don't just sweep out the bad. Crowd it out with good/healthy/strong.
