Healing hands?

For as long as I can remember, I've been able to feel 'energy' in my palms. The best way I've found to describe it is that it feels like when you put your hand underwater, and you can feel constant movement against your skin. It feels, for lack of a better description, like 'soft air'. I've been able to feel it for as long as I can remember. I have only confided in my yoga teacher about this, and she directed me to reiki.

I would like to get other opinions on what this may be, and how it can be used. I've heard about people who can 'heal', and I would be delighted if maybe I had something of that quality. I'm training to be a Beauty Therapist and I wish to specialise in Massage and Aromatherapy, so needless to say I would love to incorporate this energy that I feel into my work.

Any advice, insights or opinions would be so very greatly appreciated. Thankyou so much!

Hi Vulpixie! I've been practicing Tai Chi over the last 2 months and doing Tai Chi exercises summons a similar sensation, particularly when I'm doing the forms. I asked my Tai Chi instructor what this was, and he says that it's the feeling of qi circulating in your laogong, a major acupressure point and opening for qi (the other major points are in the soles of one's feet). We've practiced opening and closing the laogong at will when doing the forms, primarily to help circulate qi within oneself, which is what creates health (in contrast, illness is the stagnation of qi in the body). He has mentioned a few times that one can use the energy in the laogong to help heal others through massage (circulating qi in someone else's body), though I have no idea how to do that, since I'm quite new to Tai Chi and qi work myself.

Wow Xiao, that was very insightful, thankyou very much! I've read a little about qi but I've never heard of a laogong before. I tried 'activating' it by following the instructions in that link and the results were pretty interesting. I will definitely have to read up on this. Thanks again ^_^
