Buffy-inspired Protection Charm

Post by Xiao Rong »

Image

This is a protection charm I made, inspired by Buffy the Vampire Slayer (my favorite show! which is plenty witchy by itself). I was inspired by this Etsy listing, though I've had to make a few modifications, as you can see (in part because I am not the greatest wireworker). I have a little bead to represent blood and vitality, a mini-stake, a bottle (for holy water, naturally!), and a cross. I've made a few of these for my friends already, and I wrote the following incantation to go with it:

In the dark this evening hour,
I invoke the Slayer's power.
She who guards us every night
From whom the monsters take their flight
Holy water, cross, and stake,
An enchantment shall I make
To protect the bearer from all harm
While she does wear this magic charm.
Truth and honor be her guide
While the Slayer's by her side.
With my will I bind this spell,
Slayer, Goddess, keep her well.
So mote it be!

Hope y'all like it!

I could actually see Willow or other witches making charms like that for the Potential Slayers at the end of season 7 before they are all activated by a spell performed by Willow. The stake and Holy water are two things you always saw Buffy with come time for battle in some way. Crosses were another tool (she even wears one regularly). I like it. Nice way to include important symbols from the show and traditional lore with the modern media. Love it.

Haha, thank you all! I was thinking of perhaps doing this for my next giveaway, so keep an eye out for that!

Yeah, I had a very hard time finding affordable garlic beads (which she never even uses), and she DOES sometimes use holy water. Maybe one could replace the holy water with a few drops of water charged under the full moon, or sigil infused water?

But you do see other charecters use it (like Giles).,

I think she might have some on her often, but prefers the beat em up physically style. Buffy was a very fit vampire slayer.

For me as a witch I'd consider Full Moon Water to be holy water as it would be blessed in the name of the Moon Goddess. Though for traditional Buffy and Vampire lore I dont think thats what they mean by it.
