My Uncle

Post by Firebird »

My mom's brother passed away last week. He was buried today. I had mentioned it briefly on another thread because I had been thinking of him the morning he passed away. So glad we got to visit him last year. We weren't able to make the journey to the funeral, mom hasn't been feeling great. So I came to her house and we went to the cemetery with bundles of flowers and visited her mom (my uncles mother) and my dad who are buried there. We read poetry, I drummed and we cried.
This is real hard on her, she wanted to be there.

Hugs. I'm sure her message got through to her brother through their mother.

It is amazing that you were still able to be there for her and have your own little ceremony. So sorry for your loss.

Thanks you guys, I really appreciate the kind words.
It's interesting how funerary rituals can start the healing.
Noticed mom was a lot more together the day after our little ceremony.
Blessings back :)

Exactly, and it's a place where crying is allowed. Mom doesn't normally partake in tears, this is only the 5th time I've seen her cry in my lifetime.
Just crying reminds me of the keening that the Goddess Brighde is said to have originated. Seems to let the grief energy out so the healing can set in.
Thanks

It is very hard watching and knowing loved ones are moving on to the next life and leaving us to love and remember them and what touched us and them in our hearts, lives and memories!!! Xoxox
