My portable charms altar

Post by MistressOfTheMoon »

I was inspired by Kassandra's thread on 20 Clever Altar Ideas. I urge you to read it here...

Because I can't find any sculpture of Isis, I decided to make an altar that would have more meaning to me. Since I'm a "closet witch" that hides my tools in small, hidden spaces, a portable home altar sounded like a good idea.

I put some black sand in a tiny fish bowl and used charms from a local craft store to represent my occult beliefs.

Wing (center) - Isis (not that I believe she exists but rather, a symbol of aspects of divinity.

(From bottom left to bottom right, deosil)

Tree - Earth element

Feather - Air element

Sun - Divine gods, masculinity

Moon - Divine goddesses, femininity

Fish - Water element

Key - Fire element (I couldn't find a sword or knife charm, but this was the best alternative. A key is also forged in fire, and its heart-shape reminds me of passion, a gift of Fire)

I arranged the elements according to the equilibrium of the elements (see rituals of the pentagram), and placed the sun and moon on top of everything since they represent the divine powers. The sun charm is gold because it's of the element Fire, and Fire is the only element which possesses light.

I am currently working on a portable crystal altar, but not until I finish meditating on my growing crystal collection :)

Thank you! I retired it though. I made a separate goddess totem for Isis instead :) I'm still thinking about what to do with my elemental charms.
