Thoth and who?

Post by Knighthkm »

Hi!
I'm just starting out. Thoth has called to me but I havent heard anything from any Goddess. Should I keep waiting or should I just choose someone? Also, I am not so sure I relate to any of the Egyptian Goddess'. Is it ok to mix pantheons and go with a more Western one or will that cause problems? Thank you!

Why do you think you need a goddess before you can answer toth?
May the Lord and the Lady bless you.

I don't. I am just wondering if I should choose a Goddess or wait for a sign from one and if she needs to be of the same pantheon.

It's fine to mix pantheons. In my practice, these are higher dimensional beings. They have mastered their emotions and don't have any in fighting, if they are light oriented. Mixing light(benevolent) and dark(evil) beings could cause problems.

My Norse and Egyptian pantheon mixed themselves. It wasn't my idea.

In antiquity Thoth was usually worshiped with either Ma'at or Seshat. Might be a good place to start, as getting to know the deities close to Thoth can help one understand him more. That said, you also do not need to pair a goddess with Thoth to honor him if none speak to you right now. Deities won't always come in neat male/female packages, could be Thoth wants the spotlight at this point in time.

As far as mixing pantheons, the ancient Egyptians did it frequently, so that's up to you.

Maat, Tefnut, and Sekhmet are seen as his consort. They balance with his aspect as Thoth (Djehuty), Ptah, and Shu. Just a few names to work with since they will give a slightly different edge to different spells.
