Dedication to multiple unconnected Patrons?

Post by WildFlower93 »

So what I mean is, I'm dedicated to Jesus, and Diana, and I think I want to dedicate myself to Durga/Kali too. Is that ok? I would worship them all separately, never call them all together lol I can only imagine it would be madness.

Is it ok? Do others do this? Jesus chose me himself, Diana appeared for me when I needed a friend, and Durga/Kali I've worked with already for a while and love her because she is so protective and I need that (I have PTSD).

People do everything imaginable with variable results. It depends on your concept of worship and commitment, and how far you want to develop a relationship with a god-form, & how much you let it change you; working with god-forms ultimately changes us. It might help you to define your objective. Does this require a "specialist" for each task? Gods can multi-task. Would a spirit guide or guardian be more accessible? They don't require worship.

Mixing pantheons within magical work is unpredictable, and conflicting, as you are aware. I don't think we can mix and match within meditation either. The psyche is fragmented enough by daily living, so working with god-forms one at a time probably is best.

(Edit-see lower post.)

I'm thinking of the Hindu forms, and how Hinduism is the over-all unity expressed by an incredible number of individual god-forms. Hindus seem to manage well with multiple gods. what is the Hindu equivalent of Diana? Or Jesus? Does that work for you as a way to blend energies?

Or, for discussion, what is it in Diana that speaks to you? And in Jesus? In Durga-Kali? You can ask them directly in meditation to elucidate. It's whatever you can get your head around. Are gods individual beings in your understanding? Or are they facets of the same gem, one yet many-sided? It's OK to use what makes sense to you, not what anybody else does. Just know why you are doing what you do to keep your balance. If it's too fractured, re-do. If it's not specific enough, re-do. Keep adjusting until you suddenly say "ahh, that's it."

I do believe the gods are individuals, although maybe connected by common themes but it doesn't mean they are all essentially the same to me. I feel like I have a different relationship with each of them too and wouldn't be happy picking another deity within the same pantheon to represent them. I wouldn't work with them all together in one ritual because it doesn't make sense to me - they represent different philosophies, theologies, times and cultures, ect. But I would work with them separately.

I actually practice this, I mix Egyptian and Hindu gods together with no problem or bad energies.

If you feel like doing this too, then try it. I don't think there is anything wrong with it. I actually have a Hindu goddesses miniature statue together with an Egyptian obelisk dedicated to Ra. Like I said, no bad energies and they are fine with this.

Working like this requires an open mind, which would make it easier for your brain to comprehend. Try to feel your heart and follow your inner guidance to what's right for you.

Strangely, in South India, people started mixing Hinduism and Catholicism. In their version, Kali is worshiped alongside Mother Mary and is considered her "sister". I don't see anything wrong with it. People have done it for centuries.
I am the Earth, The Sun and the Stars
And I am the also the Moon
I am all animal and birds,
And I am the outcast as well, and the thief
I am the low person of dreadful deeds,
And the great person of excellent deeds
I am Female. I am Male and I am Neuter.

I concede to Tutmosis and Lady Lilith as they both work with various god-forms, and I have only ever worked with one. I'm giving feed back from what I've read, whereas they have hands on experience.

Thank you all again, I never knew Kali and Mary were worshipped side by side as sisters. Cool :)

In reply to tutmosis, I wonder if I gradually introduce them to each other they will be ok with each other.

I think so. If anything they'll let you know how they feel.

I think Diana/Durga will be ok together but I worry about Jesus since he does come from a monotheistic tradition. I feel maybe it would be disrespecting him to invoke him with other 'foreign' deities.

Folk Catholicism is pretty popular and he is evoked with other gods. I don't think he minds.

I think your looking at the picture of Jesus as being a jealous God. He has been painted that way by the church establishment(s). The different sects of Christianity have some differences, but they all want you to worship their way. All other ways are suspect, Lip service to a milder approach to views on dogma be d@mned.
The only thing I question is, if you involve Jesus, aren't you involving God the Father {who is a jealous God} and the Holy Spirit {who is invisible, and therefore absent, as they pontificate on their religion}. The worship of, and need of invoking for help, of any aspect could be awkward at least. It could be deadly dangerous at worst. I would make sure it is the healer and teacher that you call. Be very careful with it. I know, I had to go through classes when I was 12 - 13 yrs old for becoming a "member" of the church {That ticked me right off - what was I doing putting part of my allowance in the plate for every week if I wasn't a member}. It tries to instill a background that will keep you in the pews on Sunday. In psychological terms, your being trained to be a part of the cult. One is taken at a formative stage in their life and are made to feel that this way and your OK. Any other way and your immortal soul {which is a concept that your not understanding at that age} is going to burn in he!! with the [)em0ns and the [)evil coming up with tortures just for you. Just remember, when dealing with anything with Christian overtones or backgrounds, this was come up with at the council of Nicea to cement the power in the Roman Empire of the Emperor and a few church prelates. Call on the Rabbi, the philosopher, the healer that Jesus was. I think it is this Jesus who came to you. An entity of peace and love and guidance.
Be careful you don't lapse into Catholic dogma and doctrine when it is Jesus ALONE that you want.
