Praying

Post by TheWhiteWitch »

How do I end a prayer to the gods/goddess'? Formally being in a Christian religion, loosely ended prayer feels wrong. As if the prayer hasn't been bound and drifted off into nothingness. :evilwitch:

Some common ones:

Blessed be.
So mote it be.
All my relations. (Meaning generations before and to come).
I like to finish with gratitude. It's what I feel. That's very important to me to be appreciative and mindful.
I say- "Creator for today I thank you".

You can say anything really, but what do want to communicate? What's important to you?

I like all of those, I think "Blessed be" is my favorite! I'll finish my prayer with it the next time I pray.

Probably a little too casual for a prayer but I like to end mine with "blessings and farewell" it seems to work for me anyway. :)

As a Kabbalist, I still you use 'amen'.

If I am just saying a quick prayer a "thank you" will do just fine for me. If I am praying during ritual, I say "blessed be." I'm not incredibly formal but it works for me, I talk to them every day and in the same manner I would talk to my mother.

Amen isn't really restricted to a Christian thing, the meaning is "so be it" and it's believed to be adopted into Hebrew from Aramaic then translated into Greek to finally be pronounced as Amen. I can't remember what it sounds like in Hebrew. I would think you could still use Amen if it made you feel more comfortable White Witch.
