Need advice for circle. Enjoy.

Post by DeirdreRowan »

Hey Everyone! I'm looking for spell check(pun intended) and for any additions you feel could make it better. Please post any tips you feel make your rituals a success and any objects you bring into your circle that make you feel connected to the circle or your deities.
The Circle

To cast a circle is to create a sphere of space where a person can perform rituals, meditate, or study without outside influence. Circles can be created by visualized lines or use of physical objects such as rope, chalk, flowers, or salt. There are also many ways to guard a circle; methods include calling the watchtowers, guardians or asking the Goddess and God. A circle can be as simple or as complex as you want but without clear intent and concentration its results will likely be weak and inconsistent. Spend time with each element as you call upon it to create a connection with depth. Feel it with your hands but also with your soul, let it recognize similar characteristics within itself. Feel the determination of Water, the passion of Fire, the playful nature of Wind and the strength of Earth. Use methods like meditation to focus and center yourself, embrace your body and personality as they are, as they were made.

Direction Profiles

East

East is a place of beginnings so it is honored first. The sun rises in the East so it is a place of light and renewal. In the beginning of our lives we are innocent and full of love and so we should begin, be it a project or a relationship, similarly. The way you begin something will set the tone for the way you will see it through, so be careful. East is represented by Air and the colors gray and yellow. The animals of East are birds. In the circle East can be honored by a feather or by burning incense. A yellow or gray candle can be used in place of incense or feathers.

Calling Upon East
I call upon you Beings of Air, Powers of the East, Breath of the Goddess to witness this rite and guard this circle.

South

South is a place of fertility, of seeing the fulfillment of hard work. The South is heat, light and growth. It is the mid-day sun casting it’s warmth upon the Earth. It is the passion behind our actions and the courage to see them through. Turn to Fire and South for strength and power. Fire sustains life as often as it destroys it. Life and Death are held closely to Fire. While a forest fire destroys all in its path it also makes way for new life to begin. South is represented by Fire and the color red. The animals of the South are cats and the phoenix. In the circle South can be honored by burning a red candle, cat figure or a corresponding stone like amber.

Calling Upon South
I call upon you Beings of Fire, Powers of the South, Spirit of the Goddess to witness this rite and guard this circle.

West

West is a place of abundance and plenitude. Correspondingly, the ocean is full of life and the cycle of water keeps our world alive. Water can nourish the land or it can destroy it. It is a true force of nature and can be considered the essence of life. Without it we would cease to exist. Seek the West to be replenished and revitalized. West is represented by Water and the color blue. West can be represented by most sea creatures but I personally favor whales. Analogies of the sea, they are otherworldly and mysterious, graceful and dangerous. In the circle West can be honored by burning a blue candle, a seashell, coral, or vanilla incense. A small bowl of water (salt optional) will also work.

Calling Upon West
I call upon you Beings of Water, Powers of the West, Blood of the Goddess to witness this rite and guard this circle.

North

North is a place of duality and balance. With summer comes winter and with reflection comes forethought. We look to our pasts to prepare us for the future. A person cannot live exclusively for the future or the past without neglecting the other. Past mistakes and experiences hold answers to moving forward. Reflection and forethought, used correctly, can provide a stable base to build your life. Using your past to add depth to your decision making and viewpoint allows you to avoid repeating mistakes and helps bring clarity to new situations. It is a similar concept found in the Goddess and God. They are balanced, female to male, sun to moon, winter to summer. North is represented by Earth and the colors green and brown. The animals of North are stags, rabbits, and bears. In the circle North can be honored by burning a green or brown candle, soil, a small potted plant, or corresponding stones like moss agate.

Calling Upon North
I call upon you Beings of Earth, Powers of the North, Body of the Goddess to witness this rite and guard this circle.
