Witchvox shut down...
Sad to report this news.
Here is an article about it. I can see why it got outdated, even I stopped posting.

I am the Earth, The Sun and the Stars
And I am the also the Moon
I am all animal and birds,
And I am the outcast as well, and the thief
I am the low person of dreadful deeds,
And the great person of excellent deeds
I am Female. I am Male and I am Neuter. - Devi

Salute! something like a tug boat casting off the Liner.
Re: Witchvox shut down...
OMG this is the worst news ever. How on earth will pagans find each other?? It was my main resource for events and finding people. The yahoo groups is shutting down too. And I am scrambling trying to find places to put our documents. WTF
I feel like I am being forced to create a facebook page, one more way for mr. man to keep track of us. That's is like when amazon took over the book stores. Why on earth is everyone being forced to put their eggs all in one basket? sheeze….
so what's the alternative?

They have a facebook page. That will work a little easier.

Yeah I find it quite unfortunate myself. I found a coven there and it was great to find a meetup.firebirdflys wrote:OMG this is the worst news ever. How on earth will pagans find each other?? Re: Witchvox shut down...
Everything dies...
This reminds me of the Finnish pagan network. Their website and forum are still there, but totally dead these days, but their fb page is rather active. It seems that the FInnish community is going on rather slow these days. I would presume this is because most of the users are ageing/busy and I don't see that many young people among that crowd. Difficult to say much more, I'm not really in that scene, just watching from the side.
I did a search on witchvox last year, found one event in Finland... At least there was something. It seems that there's no way of finding witchy friends other than on fb groups. And none are from my country of course. I wonder if I'll ever find a friend who I could meet up irl.
The stupid arse social media has swallowed almost every forum and niche community there is. Why is it so hard these days to get people to use other websites? Everybody's online activity seems to dwell around less then ten websites. As wtichvox goes offline, there's at least some kind of a vacuum for something new? Or will it just mean more traffic on facebook groups?

Re: Witchvox shut down...
ETUM is social media, spread/advertised via bots.
I remember when the only way to connect with witchvox was dial up, lots of traffic bustle in those days; likewise, ETUM overflowed with traffic in its founding days. I became an ETUM lurker sometime post-2006, didn't make a mental note of the day/year. In those days, X's were weilded without a thought, mostly because a moderator disagreed with all points-of-view (within TOS) were welcome. Basically, it was "Ognore the man behind the curtain! There are gods!"
Compare the two sites. Vox claims less than 24 users/visitors in 24hrs. My state--not a large land mass--has a population of over 6 million people. Since the founding of w-vox, my state's page has had a total of 147,000 visitors, a vitrual wasteland of nothing.
In comparison, there are 25 visitors/users online @ ETUM as I write this. Whatever 'ism' word of which one identifies, 'ism' is dying out, seems to be a fad, vary well documented by any randon, 60-day block of ETUM time.
I have always wondered: People join, preach about their incredible magical abilities, then nothing, not even an occasional lurk.
Why is that?
What's my obsession that keeps me lurking? My fascination with magic.

I sent a note to Wren and Fritz and said "please don't go!". I doubt they will respond, though Fritz has always been really helpful in the past.
Does anyone know of another resource like Witchvox?
Nearly all our groups inquiries came thru there, and the last 3 priestesses did originally contact us through the Vox.
I do notice a slow down in interest in becoming part of a group, perhaps the witch craze is fizzling? In my personal opinion there is so much info on the web, I see many folks are desiring to be solitary, they do not need a group to teach these lessons anymore. Yet they are missing out on witch comradery and the intense work that can be accomplished within a group.
ya, umm ..the death of all things. We here are down to one Sears store (and that one is not close) which was my go-to store. I do not shop on line, (so pissed that Amazon dissolved all of the bookstores), wtf is a oldster to do?
We are putting all our eggs in one basket does not anyone see the problem in this??
guess I'm in a ranty mood
A HP of ours sent me this, https://read.macmillan.com/lp/picador-t ... pd3R5N5waI but I guess you have to order it online

My reason to stay is the purple flower design on the right... emotional reason always overcomes the logical one, feels like a home.Mr Crowley wrote:What's my obsession that keeps me lurking? My fascination with magic.
I can understand the desire to make finer magic, internet not being the purest place. When I started to post actively and stay, I've been watching Polish detective series called Ultraviolet, where they united on internet to solve criminal cases. I feel it to be a true reflection on this where we are solving magical cases together.
