We are not meant to eat Grains

Post by Firebird »

After the conversation in the shout box I went looking about grains.
I had heard we really shouldn't eat them anyway, and now with so many people having wheat allergies and celiac disease I wonder about genetic alterations maybe playing a part in the difficulty of digestion.
Turns out as humans, we really are not designed to break down grains properly, and probably should limit their consumption.

This is in conflict to the cakes and ale ceremony, if we shouldn't
eat grains, then where's the magic in the alchemical loaf of bread?
:(

Bread has come a long way, and yes some of the problem is in genetic engineering, but the real problem is our tummys are not designed for its consumption. After all birds have a gizzard, and we don't, right?

Discovery Channel news had this to say:

And Wellness Momma blog describes the problem simply:

Finally, a little history of bread:

I was grateful to discover in June of last year, how much better I feel without wheat in my life. I still consume corn, rice (brown and white), and potatoes. In the absence of wheat my chronic headache, heartburn, joint and body aches, and digestive disorders are virtually gone. In addition ...for the first time since the Dr's have been testing the replication of my viral load about 15 years ago, it was lower by nearly 3 million, it had only gone down several hundred thousand before. The Dr. didn't want to speculate if it was for the lack of bread. Heck I don't care, I feel SO much better, I have more energy too.

Blessed be the Bread
