I can say that I have no desire to wander into metaphorical dark alleys of existence - nope. I know spirits exist. I know neutral, helpful and harmful spirits exist. It seems sensible to avoid the harmful ones. Why complicate it?
I think what I perceive as flow of hostility that we interpret as presence of something dark is often not a concern of nature, but of attitude you are receiving from certain creature.
I had been in some periods on very good terms with certain poisonous plant... it got darker reaching at me when I offered it little to no sunlight... then I did and it got appeased again... then it got not happy again and I cut it thinking it was hostile all time long and the spirit of plant was infuriated the night after I did it in a very odd way. I think all it needed was sunlight.
RavenClaw mentioned in one topic here that she tests spirits by asking them if they are of "true light" so that they can stay. I think that technically every thing can reply to such question affirmatively because it is just plain ridiculous to differentiate between awareness of existence in such manner. If you want to get theosofical definition that mentions God mentions Sitra Ahra with the definition that both "good" and "evil" come from the same source as complementary forces.
Which leads to Solomonic, or ceremonial magic which if "good" is supposed to work in such fashion that you summon "demons" or perhaps just wild forces... to be afterwards subjugated by angels to work for you.... but the rumours about Solomon said that he was actually
aligned with ethereal creatures without distinction. So in such manner if you just avoid "dark" beings what is it that you mine out of this world? It ain't exactly a nice world to live in altogether with all the disease and unnecessary pain that perhaps is merely an outcome of lack of organisation and communication and also of fostering
illusionary differentiations to such polarities which become rather ridiculous when you look at the basic needs of every whatever being... which of course is also of predatory aspect... hence why I asked if the nature of element fire was not in conflict with Wiccan rede since it "consumes life to live" and in certain sense thus harm can't be avoided
and elemental fire of course can't be put away from the concept of pentagram.
