As far as I know there is not a notification system that goes to your e mail.... only if someone e mails you,
and you will have had to enabled that feature in your user "control panel" , then "board preferences" Go there and make sure your settings are as you want them.

if you log in and check your posts is one way. to see if anyone replied.

there is a feature if you "subscribe" to a thread, but I do not know where one gets the notification, I have never used it. Check that out ...at the bottom left of the page next to board index it says "subscribe topic" see that you have marked the box ...if it says "unsubscribe topic" you have already enabled the feature. Like I said I don't know where the notice gets sent.

Then again if you are talking private messages you have to log in and check your messages, there is a pop up but if you click on other things then it goes away. The only way to know for sure is to go into the messages if they are highlighted, you haven't read them yet.

Ok I've been looking around and I do not believe the board has a set up for being notified via E-mail ...if that is what you are talking about.

I have notifications set up too but I have never recieved an e mail saying that I have a PM.
So are you talking about notification for PM's?
....Perhaps you are thinking of a different website??

I wouldn't say mercury retrograde has anything to do with this because there was only 4 days of retro in the beginning of May, none in June and in July it doesn't start until the 7th...so look out it's coming! LoL!
