Pine needles also make a great mulch and soft-underbelly-plant-eater-pest deterrent as well. (Snails, slugs, etc.) It's a great way to recycle a holiday tree, too- if you have/had one.

Ooh, thank you so much, sheelanagig! I love the lemon idea. I had heard mixing that with tea tree oil and pennyroyal was another method, but pennyroyal is toxic to dogs (and probably cats too), and tea tree is really drying, so all I could foresee was some caked-on mess left on her dry fur. *(ick!) ...

Hi Azura and Truthseeker. I understand anxiety and how crippling it can be. My closest friend all through school had (and still has) a tremendous anxiety disorder. On and off of a myriad of different medications, it's been the strategy that has brought her the most control over her anxiety, she says...

Is Flea alone in the living world now? The reason I ask is because sadly, she may closely follow her sister. In my experience, the loss of a fellow sibling brings great lament to the remaining animal- she knows Horace is gone, I'm sure, and is already expressing her grief. Try to make her as much a ...

Hi Morrigans Daughter, Being a business owner myself, I know what you are going through. Actually, now I'm owner-operator and only employ my husband, but I had a very similar situation occur prior to my taking over the business- back when I was just a manager. First of all, your care and concern for...

First of all, knock off the arguing. I understand that there's a fine line between defending one self and lashing out in an attack... but exercising caution in any direction, is never a bad thing. As a reminder, please refer to the New Forum Rules post and it's accompanying disciplinary action secti...

Fleas

Ick, fleas. I live in the desert and these little buggers aren't even supposed to be able to survive in this climate, yet somehow my little Miss Maggie has contracted them. Yuck. (We think it was her playmate, the neighbor dog.) Anyhow- so... anyone have any successful non-chemical methods they use ...

Well, I'm sorry to hear that you're having trouble sleeping and are having haunting dreams, Shadow Phoenix. I am too, at the moment... and have never been a stranger to it either, so I know how awful it can be. That said, the key to stopping these reoccurring dreams is in understanding the dream's m...

You are correct, Greymalkin- you never did use those specific word choices, so no apology for that needed-- I was speaking of what was perceived when you referenced "F.B.'s" ...I didn't intend to offend you either, so I apologize if that was the effect. I am a little curious though- you me...

I agree, labels do limit... but some are looking for that collective connectivity, so I understand that too. Generally, one who believes in the existence of "God" or a singular "higher power", following no other specific religion, is labeled Agnostic. Buddhism, Taoism, Wicca and ...

I don't have any personal experience with it, but my Mom speaks very highly of Bach's "Rescue Remedy" also. So far as calming, I'm not really sure what would successfully calm a horse- though all animals are different. My dog hates the smell of any mint oils, and yet your horse doesn't min...

Greymalkin, Being a follower of love and light by no means infers that the person is denying the existence of the darker side of life, just that they choose not to go down that road... which is totally and completely fine. Just as you choose to balance yourself between the two, -for you- that is als...
