Tree of Contemplative Practices

' What are Contemplative Practices? Contemplative Practices cultivate a critical, first-person focus, sometimes with direct experience as the object, while at other times concentrating on complex ideas or situations. Incorporated into daily life, they act as a reminder to connect to what we find mos...

Re: Religious clash

Everything everyone have suggested is great advice! It's probably going to take a lot of talking and listening/understanding to help each other out. In addition to what everyone else has suggested already, one thing that has helped me the most when it comes to discussing religion with people who are...

Re: all things Moon

That would be great! There is so many practices that revolve around it. I know with the farmers almanac they have the gardening and fishing. I need to buy one for this new year... And spell work, cooking, etc. I think someone recently put up a link that's about hair trimming and grooming. Kinda neat.

Re: Pagan Creation vs. Wicca Creation

Hey there Klia, I'm not sure where you're at on your path, so you may find you know a lot of what's in it, but I am finding this book (now, don't mind the name), The Complete Idiot's Guide to Paganism, to be helpful. It has a lot of basic stuff in it but it goes over some different creation ideas an...

Falcon_Heart27: Do you know if essential oils are an okay substitute for the actual plants? My grandmother sells them, and I could probably use some of her personal stash... Hmm, I think it would be okay to substitute the plants for essential oils. :) Really, the main difference to me is that just ...

Re: Who are the Guardians in a Circle

So for examples, who do you call when you name off the quarters/elements? I need some ideas - I've done circle casting a few times so it's still new to me. My idea was to name off animals of the element. Fire is going to be tough With your idea to use animals that represent the guardians or element...

Re: A strange type of Hydromancy?

Hmm. That's pretty interesting. I wouldn't refer to myself as a psychic so I can't give any helpful tidbits. If you're open to receiving things, you'll probably notice a lot of things. You're listening out for them now. The running water sound kinda reminds me of white noise. A lot of people hear th...

Re: Vegetarianism

I did the vegetarian thing for about a year when I was studying buddhism. With buddhism its kind of encouraged within the community because animals are sentient (thinking and feeling beings, like humans). They have a lot of stories where you put yourself into the animals point of view and well, make...

Re: Panning for Gems in Florida!

That sounds like a lot of fun. I'm from Plant City and a lot of little kids like Dinosaur world. I haven't gone there though. I'm going to have to take my nephew out there and pan for some stones. :) He'd get a kick out of it.
