Drawn Altars

I found this idea on Pinterest -- the original idea comes from stellawitchcraft.tumblr.com http://stellawitchcraft.tumblr.com Seems like a great idea for folks who may not have the budget for a lot of altar tools, the space for a real one, or just have a lot of creativity! http://68.media.tumblr.com...

Split this off from the original thread. Let me know if you have a different/better title in mind.

Re: How do I go about making an offering to a Spiritus Loci

I personally think libations are great -- a gift of water never goes amiss. Here's a great article I found recently about types of offerings . I personally am striving to do more "positive impact offerings" in my life -- for instance, weeding out the invasive species in the woods behind my...

Re: Disaster Preparedness, I Need What?

This is the closest that I can find to the rescue knife that I carry with me. My brother gave it to me right after I got certified as an EMT (that certification has LONG since lapsed!). The nice part is that it has a window punch at the end, and also a seatbelt cutter. It'd be good for getting out ...

Re: Disaster Preparedness, I Need What?

I'm not a diehard prepper, but I did grow up in the hurricane alley, so there are some things that I always have lying around the house -- a first aid kit, firestarting materials, flashlights, tools, canned food, emergency blankets, etc. (I need to work on the water, part, actually -- thanks, Planew...

Re: Darkness of the human soul

Moonraingirl, putting a plug in for an old post of mine, Knowing and Embracing Your Shadow . Shadow work is really important for healthy development. Over time, I've come to realize there are two sides of Shadow work. The first is to acknowledge the gifts of your unclaimed, Shadow side. Here's an ex...

Re: Are there pagan/Wiccan hymns out there to use in one's w

Hmm, I don't know of any full books on the subject. The most in-depth information I've seen in writing was in the book, Goodly Spellbook: Olde Spells for Modern Problems , by Lady Passion and Diuvei. I didn't care as much for the second half of the books (their actual spells), but the first half had...

Re: Not using incense

Are you using a carrier oil? I usually put in like a tsp of coconut oil, and then 2-5 drops of the essential oil. Without the carrier oil, the essential oil will denature and burn out too fast without giving off the scent. It's not as much aroma as a cold water diffuser, but I prefer it to be a litt...

Judge, the Astral Altar is a great idea. So is cultivating an Astral Temple. Your skills are also your tools -- music, dance, artwork, poetry, visualization, meditation, etc.

Re: The change

I've heard a lot of people saying that these are Tower Times; this is a moment of enormous crisis and change. I asked my cards, though, and we are on the cusp of a very positive and hopeful future; we just have to get through this first. It's the wildfire that destroys the forest but clears the brus...

Ooh, so glad you asked! Having musical training and talents like yours is a real blessing! I've introduced my coven to many songs that we now use routinely in ritual. We cast the circle with song (usually the Silver Rose Quarter Call , sometimes a musical adaptation of Starhawk's Quarter Call ). SJ ...

Re: Would you recommend Doreen Valiente?

I think that there are many writers and leaders who have made amazing strides for Paganism or other areas, and yet have held very unethical views or done questionable, even reprehensible things. I personally had a very hard time when I learned that Marion Zimmer Bradley, the author of The Mists of A...

Re: Not using incense

I found these really cool oil diffusers at Walmart, actually, that I've started to use a lot. There's space for a little tealight on the bottom, and above it is a little reservoir for oil ( something like this ). You mix in a dab of coconut oil and a few drops of the essential oil. As they heat up o...

Re: Weird question: Is it wrong to be in love with a god?

You might want to look into the term "godspouse". From what I gather, it's difficult and tough work that's not for everyone, but it can be rewarding.
