Maybe it was the shed itself, or the cemetery, welcoming you? I've read of instances where places take on their own energy and can project that energy in a variety of ways. It certainly sounds like a gesture saying, "Welcome. Rest here if you like."

If you're unsure about placing a spell on a person, you could try something like a sweetening jar charm that could affect the house as a whole. It might help facilitate some good communication between everyone.
