Re: Is it considered bad to worship God as a female instead?

Wonderful points, Seraphin! Especially when one knows the Names. Are you familiar wit "Ki"? Raised in a "church" family, I was taught to never question anything. In my later years, I've found a multitude of "Stars in the Sky", if you will, concerning the "Divine F...

Re: Bluejays and Mockingbirds--symbolism?

I have recently found out that both blue jays and mockingbirds are extremely aggressive. They even sometimes attack one another in dispute of territory. I'm really not sure what this means.

Re: Parsley Herb Lore

If one should ever be unfortunate enough as to encounter the Wild Hunt, the huntsmen and huntswomen may be appeased by an offer of parsley. It will also possibly appease malevolent-minded draugr and hagbui. It can also be used as an offering to various goddesses, gods, and spirits, particularly tho...

Re: Who Reached Out To Me?

Thank you all for your input. :) I'm currently leaning heavily towards Freya, but I'm still in the research phase, so who knows. Now, I've run across a slight problem... In beliefs, I've never really believed in gods and goddesses. I do, however, acknowledge that the world and the universe is full ...

Re: My Goddess Totems

The wolves in this display really call to me. I've always felt that wolves have connected to the Goddess in some way. Hecate is one of the few non-Norse gods that I worship. You do beautiful craft-work, I look forward to seeing more. :3

Re: Anyone work with Loki?

I'm not a dedicated follower of Loki myself (though I do make the occasional offering to Him, as with most of the Norse gods and goddesses) but I know man people who are. Many of Loki's followers are female, which is interesting given Loki's flexible gender. I don't think he necessarily will bring c...

Re: Sweat Lodge experience

I have done a traditional sauna experience. Not quite a sweat lodge, but similar. It was when I visited Finland half a year ago. It was a traditional experience, complete with snow bathing, vihta whipping (lightly scouring your own flesh with a birch branch), and a bracing col;d-water swim afterward...

Re: Landvættir - Land Wights

OMG, a post about landvaettir! :3 I love the term "land-wight." The word "wight" (as opposed to "vaett" in Old Norse) was originally coined with J.R.R. Tolkien. It means the same as the original but he was the first to...well..."Anglicize" the term. But he was...

Oh, wow! This is an amazing post. I've always felt that being in the forest was a cleansing experience for the soul. The term "forest bathing" is so perfect and accurate. Thank you so much for sharing.

Re: How to communicate with a tree.

This is an awesome post! My favorite tree is an enormous old honey locust in a local park. It's older and taller than any other trees around. It's always a wonderful experience to sit under it and read. It really is communicating with me.

Re: Folk Magic and the World Today

I think folk magic endures eve today. Some things never end. When I was in German this past summer doing study abroad, my Chinese roomate Chen Chen (or Cici, as everyone called her) pointed to a magpie and told me very frankly "That's a...what is the English?...good-luck bird." "A mag...

Re: Seidkonacat's Fróðleikr-Bók

I've been feeling very solitary lately. I go to work, I interact with my family, but the rest of the time I spend alone. My lover has been dead for four months. I'm still not over it. At least once a week, I drive into state park lands and wander through the woods, taking the least-traveled, most-ov...
