Re: A couple questions from a new witch!

1. Is it okay to burn candles as pastime (even when not casting a spell), or is it too sacred? Feel free to use candles how you wish. Religious practices don't have a monopoly on their use. 2. What are considered offerings/how do they work? If you don't know what a specific being (deity or o...

Re: My thoughts are religion is man made...

I think that perhaps you're on an eclectic path. I like to think of it as a spiritual buffet. You're choosing what you want and taking as much as you want until you feel satisfied. Even though someone else made the food, you the person who decides what goes on your plate.

Re: Circle Casting and Fatigue

Having a snack after magickal work is helpful too. Food helps to ground us, to reconnect us with the mundane world and to recharge our energy. Setting a bit of the food aside for the Divine is another way to connect with Them as well.

I haven't done many witchy things lately, except for making a Troll Witch. :P

Re: Echo's Witchy Things

Aw, thank you! :) Yes, I do plan to post current photos as the wheel turns. For the majority of the time that I've been a witch, I haven't been able to do much openly. Lughnasadh 2013 was the start of me being able to regularly celebrate the sabbats. It wasn't until Beltane 2014 that I was able to h...

Re: How can I find my magical name please help

Some people adopt preexisting names or they try to come up with one from scratch. If you have a patron deity, or are at least planning to work with a specific deity or two, you could adopt Their name as a way to honor Them. One small suggestion before doing this though, is to ask the deity in questi...

Re: Imbolc (Imbolg/Candlemass) Plans?

It's been a while since I've done anything for the sabbats that are sabbat themed. I usually just do magickal things that I need done. I use the time as a general energy boost rather than a specific one. Why save up all your need for growth for just the sabbats of the waxing half of the year? Just l...

Re: New, confused, but hopeful witch

Hello. :) If you like "Wicca: A Guide for the Solitary Practitioner", you might also like the follow up book "Living Wicca A Further Guide for the Solitary Practitioner." Both are very good, as are many of Cunningham's books.

Re: A Goddess contacted me - who is she?

If this goddess isn't Artemis specifically, maybe it could be one of her equivalents, such as Diana, Aphaea or Selene? You could check into goddesses associated with swans such as Brighid, Allah and/or al-Lat, al-Uzza and Manat (three pre-Islamic goddesses associated with the swan), or Saraswati.

Re: Dreams

This isn't really my area of expertise, but I think I can help a little bit. My first suggestion is to start a dream journal. This is the biggest step you can take to understand your dreams. Dreams are your subconscious mind sorting things out as well as giving you messages. Sometimes those messages...

Re: Daily prayers?

I'd like to recommend reading " Living Wicca: A Further Guide for the Solitary Practitioner " by Scott Cunningham. Chapter nine, Daily Prayer and Chants , has some lovely, simple and effective prayers for several occasions. Personally, I'm a big fan of Cunningham, so I recommend him all th...

Re: Should matron goddess match your ancestry?

The gods know that we're all the same on the inside. They don't mind who honors them. I currently worship three gods, and it's only the most recent one that I've worked with that shares a cultural connection with me. Get to know the gods in the same way you would any new friend: just ask. Who knows ...
