Re: Rising paganism

I know what you mean firebirdflys. I would love to join a coven, but location makes it hard. I think the internet has done a lot to further the isolation people feel, and in some cases has normalized it. That’s sad.

Re: Rising paganism

I think that, in today’s world, with politics as divided as they are, and extremism rising on all sides, together with the dogma inherent in most religions, that people are becoming tired of being controlled. The ne thing they can change is religion and spirituality.

Re: Changing Deities

Exactly. I think too many witches, especially baby witches (of which I am) get too lost in the specifics.

Re: Changing Deities

The way I look at it is like this. All of them exist and are not myths. However, they aren’t necessarily separate entities either. We are all, individually and collectively, part and parcel of The One. Just like pushing a lump of clay onto a colander, it produces small protrusions on the either side...

Re: Changing Deities

I have a better question, born in part from my own research.

Why choose?

There are a lot of deities, each with their own specialties and domains. Why not get several statuettes and honor whichever ones are most connected with a particular spell or ritual?

I am not sure I understood your reply SL. Elaborate?

Anyway, I think I’ve traced it to Nox/Nyx.

Re: Help identifying mine.

I understand. The reason we initially thought of Silvanus was the name I picked, Silas, being derived from Silvanus. Which made sense. So is it ok to have a patron god, but not yet identified a patron goddess?do they have to be in the same pantheon?

Re: Help identifying mine.

It’s definitely a possibility, but I was thinking in terms of pairs. Like, a god who represents one thing, and a goddess who represent the other, and both are in the same pantheon. I can’t find that though.

Help identifying mine.

Shortly after joining this community and starting my path I had a vision/dream, which I described in detail in an earlier post. While I already believed in The One, and the duality of the God/Goddess with, I had no names. Here is a summary of the vision/dream. I was pulled out of my normal dream, in...

Re: Is my tortoise somehow magical?

I would dare say that all living things are magickal. Even ones that don’t immediately come to mind or seem unlikely. They are alive with the same energies given to us. It doesn’t matter if it’s a cat a dung beetle or something in between.

Blessed be,

Re: Question: The term 'Spell'

Panthers, that seems slightly backward to me. A ritual is a spell, done ritualistically. That is to say, a spell is one time, but a ritual is done repeatedly, often on a schedule. For example, “Dave ritually had two cups of coffee every morning.” Thecupidstheater, this may sound more acedemic than s...

Re: How to escape a Christian mindset

I just talk to mine. No special hand holding or sitting position. Just talk, like a good buddy is right beside me. Of course, gestures like planting a seed or feeding an animal are basically sacrifices. But honestly, they don’t answer to me, or I them. It’s a two way street. Respect, love, understan...

Merry meet! I was in a similar situation for the longest time, though I did a lot of research before beginning my path, so I believe I may be able to help you with your two concerns. 1) old bearded guy This is quite common actually, especially if you were raised in a particular religion as a child. ...

Re: How do you quickly describe Wicca?

I would say “spiritually centered witchcraft”. Religion implies compulsory dogma and doctrine.
