Re: Question About Druidism & Symbol

I think it is also worth point out that we don't really have ancient druid symbols, although the druid revival is pretty old at this point. John Michael Greer likes to say that there is "true" and there is "valid." What we are really trying to build, whatever the order, is a vali...

Re: Is there a thread for this topic ?

I actively practice with the Ancient Order of Druids in America and the Druidical Order of the Golden Dawn. Depending on what path you are interested in, you might check out some of the orders. You can find a lot of free information on the various websites. The orders have differences and similariti...

Re: Are Herbs Required for Witchcraft?

Nothing in particular is required for witchcraft. The craft is an individual thing for all of us. Much of magic involves mental focus and energy. Things like herbs are often meant to reach our subconscious mind and open it in ways that we can't often manage consciously. They provide certain energies...

Re: Buckland's Complete Book of Witchcraft - Good or Bad?

There is a ton of information in it, and if you work through it as a workbook, you get a really good wide-ranging understanding of witchcraft. It covers a lot very quickly. The downside for me was that much of it is coven-based and I am solitary. I enjoyed it though. I think it was the second or thi...

Re: Are Druids a subgroup of Celts?

Modern druidry doesn't necessarily involve the worship or any particular set of gods, unless you are in an order like ADF, which is essentially a church. I assume they have certain gods, but I am not entirely sure. I am in the Ancient Order of Druids in America and the Druidical Order of the Golden ...

Re: Druidry Books?

I have joined the Druidical Order of the Golden Dawn (the first year book is The Celtic Golden Dawn. I am also applying to The Ancient Order of Druids in America with uses The Druidry Handbook as its first year curriculum. Those might be good starts for those two systems.

Re: My first altar.

The wand was originally part of the root system of a small clearing of dead trees that a crow led me to as a sacred space. I found it near a creek that flows around the clearing like an island. The wand has insect trails carved in to it that look like rune engravings. I once tried to cap it with rut...

My first altar.

I can't keep anything set up permanently, so it is a working altar for whatever spellwork or ritual I am doing at the time. It works, even if it isn't very creative at this point. The black mirror and rune bag aren't always out, but they were being consecrated.

Re: Trying to incorporate oils and herbs into candle magic..

I generally use olive oil as a carrier, since I have it around. Some of the essential oils can be hard on your body or even leave burn-like spots on your skin. A little goes a long way.

Re: Well, my wife just outed me to my kid.

We live in a pretty open area. Part of the reason that it came up is that we took him to our local witchcraft store. My wife helped him pick out some stones that he had a connection with and let it slip that if he wanted to learn about Wicca, he could ask me questions, because I had been reading abo...

Well, my wife just outed me to my kid.

I had planned on keeping the Wiccan stuff from my 9 year-old kid until he gets a bit older. He'd been noticing some things around the house (moon water, a box of altar supplies that I changed the subject on, etc.) We took him to a metaphysical shop where he saw some stuff and bought some stones he l...

Re: Strawberry moon is here!

I am planning on making some moon water, possibly with some rosebuds. My wife (who is metaphysical, but not spiritual) is going to be making her own. Otherwise, I have a release spell planned to get rid of some hard feelings about grad school denials and some frustrations with my current work. I'm a...
