Re: Who are the Guardians in a Circle?

It's been bumped from 2013 to 2020 - the original poster has likely long gone. It's easy to miss unless you use a necro tag to warn people. Necro'ed - 'thread' necromancy; it's been brought back from the dead. Opinions differ on them, sometimes it's nice to revisit threads, especially with useful in...

Re: Who are the Guardians in a Circle

Yes it does. But I don't believe in gnomes or faeries. Could I imagine animals as the guardians? Great question. (personal opinions) I don't believe in Archangels but each of the elements are associated with one? I think precious stones are mostly magically inert (to me personally) but there are st...

Re: Omnipotence

Of most pagan 'gods'? There are half a dozen different opinions on the subject, few consider omnipotence except those who connect the smaller parts to a whole. --- However... Depends how subjectively you view power. Omnipotence would surely require a coorespondance to omnipresence - so rather then s...

Re: Voodoo magic with dolls

Creating a poppet is another act of focus and coorespondance (making an object and connecting it to the subject) within many branches of sympathetic magic.

Adding hair, nails, a photograph? Just more layers of coorespondance.

Re: Wiccan vs. Witch

@Corbin: But couldn't one say that every religion has its craft? There are almost always rituals and practices that are linked heavily to a religion. A Buddhist will most likely also have a meditation habit, a Christian often goes to church on Sundays or at holidays. I think at it's core, almost ev...

Re: Wiccan vs. Witch

Wicca as a 'thing' - both a craft and a religion - is recognised as the path developed by Gerald Gardner and Doreen Valiente. It is not the only witchcraft path to emerge when the Witchcraft laws were repealed in the 1951 in the fraudulent mediums act.... And just in case you think the UK became 'fu...

Re: Some quick advice

Be able to both laugh at and be kind to yourself but don't expect the same from others. Remember everyone is to a lesser or greater degree struggling with something. Make mistakes your lessons. Many things are subjectively good and objectively bad (or vice versa), this illustrates duality and eventu...

Re: The Demiurge

Thoughts. From a pagan perspective and using a psychological analogue (not the common modern usage) , the demiurge would be equivilent to God the EGO - the great IAM - The petty god who demands worship - the ego that the thinks he rules - only a conscious figment, fiction or shadow of the true radia...

Re: Reincarnation of Evil

If you believe in the karmic path through reincarnation and met what you believe was the reincarnation of a such 'misguided' person, one would assume they were here to, after the blindness of a previous incarnation, continue their difficult spiritual journey toward the light and should be gently and...

Re: Making Spirits?

Personal opinion only. I would hazard that there were easier and less potentially troublesome methods to achieve relatively such simple magical goals. I generally prefer invocation to evocation, in the same way I would consider lighting a fire with a match before reaching for the flamethrower, espec...

Re: Altar offerings

Wheat and other grains, baked bread, a dram of whisky. -------- There were three men come out of the west, their fortunes for to try And these three men made a solemn vow, John Barleycorn would die They've ploughed, they've sown, they've harrowed, thrown clods upon his head Till these three men were...

Altar offerings

Gŵyl Awst blessings. So there are eight Sabbats or spokes in the wiccan / neo-pagan calander. Starting Lammas / Lughnasadh (one of the easiest), what kind of offerings do you place on your altar and why? (from the obvious to the less so). What do you feel is 'the spirit of the seasonal observation? ...

Re: Advice for getting back into the craft?

Yeah I read that too but frankly took it as spoiled bait - something that doesn't smell right and something baiting a reaction.

I shouldn't worry. Only a lunatic would try to curse the moon.
