Re: What does "practical magic" mean?

Thanks everyone for your answers so far! As expected, there is a lot of variety... but that's okay. Part of why I asked to see if there was a general consensus or idea -- perhaps keywords or repeated feelings that were used commonly. But it seems perhaps not... but I'd like to hear more answers too ...

Re: Answer: When did you first consider yourself a witch?

There was a time I called myself a witch, but I don't anymore. I think I'm further along my path than ever... it's just not a word I feel really fits me. Of course, it's just me -- by others' definitions, I may certainly be a witch, and that's fine. It doesn't bother me to be called one. It just isn...

Re: Suggestions for a fertility potion?

Since I'm kind of creating these ideas on the fly, I guess I would definitely say whatever seems to resonate to you as the best idea would work. For me, it seems to make the most sense that you would make a 'his' and 'her' potion -- one that is symbolic to each of you as individuals... to boost each...

What does "practical magic" mean?

How do YOU define the term "practical magic?" I want to know your definition without recent influences, so please do not read any other answers before posting, and don't think too much about it. Just post right now with the first thing that comes to your mind! It's important not to look at...

Re: Sensitivity to Weather

How does he know he put it up?

I think people are naturally sensitive to weather, but we lose this sensitivity (or, in his case, as a blessing and curse, it gets transformed into pain) in cultures that are detached from oneness and nature.

Re: Suggestions for a fertility potion?

I just realized something that may be important -- I was just assuming this potion was going to be used for a woman. Of course, while a man can't get pregnant, he still contributes to fertility equally! It might also be a good idea to create a counterpart/balance potion for both you and your partner...

Re: Suggestions for a fertility potion?

I think (it's been a while since I've written it) I have a basic guideline for a tea-brewing ritual/magic in my tea topic, you can use that as inspiration to write your own if you want :) I like the idea of using a separate spell or ritual for the creating of the potion and then another one when you...

Re: Nordic Wicca

Despite being on a different kind of path that doesn't particularly use pantheons, I still have two runes on my altar that symbolize Odin and Friga. I went to the second page you linked... it's very nice, too. It's a lot less informative, but the information is organized in a way that's a lot easier...

Re: Suggestions for a fertility potion?

I no longer have contact with her, but an old friend of mine seemed to know a lot about herbs that were great for helping with conception... what's importnat is that some of them are actually bad to use while pregnant, so it's important to pay attention to that (like, certain fruits and herbs increa...

Re: Nordic Wicca

Oh, that page seems really great (the first one; haven't checked out the second one yet) ... I used to be really into the Norse pantheon and that seems like a great collection of information explained in a very helpful way, especially to those who may be new to it.

Re: Cats + Altars = Disaster

Wow, what a great idea. We have problem with stray cats coming and sitting on a porch swing... so maybe we could apply a similar strategy. I've never had a pet cat so I don't really know a lot about cat psychology :)

Re: Suggestions for a fertility potion?

I don't have one written as I've never needed one or anything, but I really like the idea of lotus flower tea, especially white lotus, for this. White tea leaves are also great. Of course you can add other things to it... fruits are great, since they are literally nature's fertility. The ones that s...

Re: Teas 101: Tea Magic and Potion Crafting

You are welcome!! I hope to return to this some time soon... But I really have no idea where my path is taking me right now as far as how I view how magic should be used/should work. So I gotta get that sorted out somehow... :)

Re: Any tips on lucid dreaming?

. Interesting quotes -- thesmartwitch really is smart, What a fitting name :) I guess I got inspired: as I read over your post, I instantly "saw" a working that might assist with lucid dreaming in my mind's eye. It involves water in a large silver bowl, willow branches, moonstones, a whit...

Re: Which tarot deck do you like?

My favorite is this one:

http://www.amazon.com/Witches-Tarot-Ell ... 0875426697

Which I never see anymore. I used to see it all the time. But that's the one I carry with me and use most regularly. I also like having a trusty RW deck :)
