I thought 'god' created the heavens and the earth (which would include water) the animals of the sea and land and then light, and then humans and everything was good and he lazed about and did bong loads on the 7th day

I guess we will have to, I do understand your point and kudos on a very good topic. I suppose there is no singular answer spiritually or scientifically. Could be claimed that none came 1st but all came together.
