The Dead Reaching Out ?

I don't mean like a literal hand, but touching my mind. Not in words really, more like a hunch.
I drive past my old flower shop on the way to my fellow Priestesses house, it's the fastest route. I haven't worked there now in about 5 years, but had been there for 15.
Two Mondays ago it was Memorial day. I saw the flower shop was not open and at first thought, eh...it was never a big selling day and the guy who ran the shop would take either that weekend or Labor day for his two day holiday, he worked 6 days a week.
Then I had a creepy feeling that was like...he could be dead in there and no one would know. The only other person with a key is the owner and he is never there. I relayed the weird feeling to my Priestess/friend when I got to her place.
Then I went on with the rest of my week, during that week I broke out a sweater that the flower shop guy gave me for a Yule gift one year. I hadn't wore it in a long time.
On Sunday last, I was driving past the flower shop and saw a sign that read "flower shop guys name, we'll miss you"...whaaaaaa? I changed lanes and hooked a U-ee and went to the donut shop where would buy the daily bagel for years and years. Donut Lady told me the story of how she saw him Memorial morning but no one found him until the next day. No one thinking it strange really that he wasn't open on that day. On Tuesday the next door shop, a bike store, sent an employee to see what was up. They eventually had the fire dept. out there who got a hold of the owner who brought out the key. They indeed found him dead in the back room.
So I wonder now if there was anything I could have done, Was he calling out to me to find him? I haven't even spoke to him in a very long while, we didn't part on the best terms. I kinda quit. He used to mock my being a witch and would out me to strangers coming into the shop among other more horrible offences I won't go into.
I wonder why he would reach out to me from beyond...No one has claimed his body and I'm pretty sure he has no relatives.
