Her Dark Façade (Villanelle)

Don't fall for those demonic eyes,
that lacquered alabaster face;
she's just an angel in disguise.

Beneath the dense mascara lies
a seraph-like amazing grace.
Don't fall, for those demonic eyes,

the leather dress, the booted thighs,
all veil the truth in spider lace;
she's just an angel in disguise -

a fact the see-through gothic guise
can neither obscure nor efface.
Don't fall for those demonic eyes.

The painted on façade belies
a beauty standing out of place;
she's just an angel in disguise.

And should you fail to re-alize,
you'll do so to your own disgrace.
Don't fall for those demonic eyes;
she's just an angel in disguise.

That's a trip down memory lane. You could have been describing my daughter's Halloween costume from 1997.

Count yourself lucky she didn't dress that way all the time! The 'Goth Girl' look was in its heyday back then. :lol:

Of course the 'darkest' young women I knew personally never tried to wear it on the outside. ;)

We were both in scrubs back in those days. She did wear a lot of black. And being on night shift, we both tended to be pale. Her hospital ID badge picture was fairly vampiric looking.

Forgive me for saying so, but it sounds like she might've been kinda hawt! X)

The Central Supply clerk thought so. They got married, and they have four kids.

Well, good for them (and I guess for you too, right Grandma?). :)

I sort of met my wife through work, as well. Her sister and I worked together in the early 90's. Those were the days.

Yes, I have my own little circus. My daughter and I take the kids on road trips. Next year, my grandson can help with the driving. That will make things easier. At least in theory.

And here's to the sincerest hope that it all works out without a hitch in practice. Image

It's great. It makes me feel middle aged again. I'm the only one who's old. A young lady stops aging at 29, or is it 30. No matter. Always love your stuff. Always a good read.
