This post is a warning to all new and old witches out there, yesterday i came across a plant which seems to be henbane. This plant is poisonous but we witches use it so i was thinking "what if someone doesnt know that, what if someone gets hurt?"
So i am asking all the witches out there to post warnings on poisonous herbs here, please

The real question is... How did Mandrakes come to be known as a plant that screams when you pull it out of the ground?

SCREAMING MANDRAKE

That is a good question, i dont know why a mandrake would scream when unrooted but i know that in the old times mandrake would be unrooted only by dogs, tied to the plant by rope..so the victim of the scream would be only the dog and not a human.
I guess the scream story is because mandrake looks like a human, or a baby if we take it by size. So as young babies scream mandrakes should also scream..who knows...

If you have seen "Pan's ;abyrynth " there is ascene of a mandrake that is like asmall baby and itactually cries like a baby...bua bua bua (somewhat like this) :P
here is a link its the creapy thing in the bowl.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m2UE7TLm ... re=related

in the movie the mother of the little girl is pregnant, but it is difficult for her, so to make sure her mother and the baby are safe see puts a mandrak root inside a bowl with milk, and feeds the root with 3 drops of her blood everyday.
come to think of it, its very symbolic, blood means life, milk means life since its the first thik babies drink. and the mandrake that looks like a human. :)

With Mandrake, how exactly is it poisonous? Could you touch it and grow it, is it just if you eat it, or is it just stay away? Actaully, I'd love to know this with each of these, if someone would be so kind. Thank you in advance. Also, I HAVE to ask, how much Nightshade would make you trip out? XD sorry...
