I would recommend trying a guided meditation, you can find plenty for free on youtube. If you search "guided meditation animal spirit guide" you should come up with a few results, and you can choose.

I did a guided meditation to find my Spirit Guide (which turned out to be Odin, wow), but in the trance I also met a Tiger who I have every reason to believe is my animal spirit guide. Now that I'm awakened to him, sometimes I feel him around me, pacing around my legs and so on. My first two guides I met at the same time, one animal and the other human. It was very strange.

I had been trying to do a little meditation everyday to get some practice and open myself more to the world. Usually, I have some sense of a connection when I meditate but it has never been clear. I went to sleep that night and had the strangest dream, and I remembered it too. I never remember my dreams.

I found a 1/2 mole 1/2 human creature and I told him, "I know who you are." He did not say anything but disappeared. The next thing was that he started following me, and I knew it but was not afraid. He had become completely human now and we finally met up. I only remember him saying one word to me in the entire dream and it was, "Swedish." I was very confused.

After puzzling over the dream for the day I decided to meditate again, but I asked if the person from my dream was trying to tell me something. After a few minutes a mole appeared, he is one of the sweetest things I have ever met. He loves to smile. He does not speak in his animal form so took on the persona of a human in my dream to speak to me. I did not believe that "Swedish" was a warning, so I asked if that was his name. He shook his head as if to say, "Yes....and no." I changed the way I pronounced the word to "Sveidish," and he was so happy. I met my first animal guide.

Later that week, I had not had any time to meditate so I did a tarot reading and asked Sveidish if he had a message for me, and the Knight of Cups popped up along with other cards symbolizing message, confrontation, and happiness. I was confused so I used one other deck to see what would appear, low and behold the same Knight of Cups. At first I thought that the Knight would be someone I would meet in real life, but Sveidish "told" me I needed to meditate to meet him.

Okay, so finally I meditate and the first thing that pops into my mind was the human form Sveidish used in my dream to contact me. That is when he introduces himself. Jon, a romantic, light brown hair to his shoulders with chocolate brown eyes, oval face with a square chin, about 18 years old, and is always smiling. He loves the color blue and he told me a little bit about himself. After that I asked if there was a message he had for me and he said, "You've gotta let go of the past."

It was quite the roller coaster ride meeting both of them at the same time, but an adventure as well!

Blessings to all,
Azriel

I have a spirit guide, who is a light blue Dragoness named Dorian. She's lovely and I love her to bits :). I first met her in a dream where towards the end I was morphing into her. I made proper contact with her a while later where I had my first experience with Dragon Magick.

I've only seen him once or twice now but think I might have actually come across another Dragon (I'm not sure what his name is yet) but he's about the same size as Dorian with earthy brown scales. I met him in two dreams where I morphed into a brown dragon and have talked to him a couple of times.

Apparently my animal spirit guide is a Black Bear. A card and aura and spirit reader and seer (not sure what the real name for one of them are lol) saw it. I haven't seen him/ her but Ive looked up the meaning and I do believe that they are my spirit animal/guide.

Mine are a rabbit and a deer. I work more with the deer though, and the deer is fairly new.

My spirit animal is Black Panther.
To be fair, I just always knew it was my spirit animal. But at some point (wow, actually years ago :)) I decided to design a ritual to find out for sure and it came out to be true. It doesn't have any name, it's more like an archetype of all Black Panthers.

If anyone's interested in that ritual I could post it somewhere as it helped me to find out what my spirit animal is and I did that ritual for a lot of my friends to help them find their spirit animals too and it was always very successful ;)

A wolf is the first image that comes to my mind whenever I close my eyes and think of an animal. I have always loved them and tried to love by their rules. Now,reading about them as spirit animals,it would make sense why the wolf is trying to help and guide me and I guess he is somehow successful. I read in an article about spirit animals, how people with this spirit animal start to behave and recognised most aspects of the mentality.
I have this strong connection with the wolf that makes me believe he is always by my side.
I also had this dream that felt extremely real about me and some colleagues surviving an airplane crush and surviving. We are in a forest, nobody knows where this is,and they don't listen to me ( this always happens in the real life too) and we all split up. I know some things about survival and manage to kill a stag, cook it and give some of it to a wild wolf that keeps growling at me. Eventually he becones my friend and protector and helps me find the others and build a village. He also keeps the order there.
I had thever same dream repeatedly as a kid and a few days ago,it came back.

Doing the funny"what is your spirit animal" tests, resulted with the same animal...a deer. It also appeals to my personality but they are just e-tests so I'll wait for a sign.

And the new one,is the sparrow. 3 of them ended dead in front of the door the day after my dedication ritual.
The meaning was either that someone I love is going to die soon (which didn't happen and I so hope it won't) or that the sparrow wants to be my totem. I accepted it as a totem and am still waiting for further signs.

To be honest,I'd like to get some help from a spirit animal that is specialised in healing. I hope one of them will show himself to me. :-)

I have had two up-close and personal encounters with living eagles. Both times coincided with meaningful events, so I'm guessing the eagle has befriended me.

However in a dream I was informed it's the sea serpent... :o

Oh hey! I guess I forgot to update about that. Well.. there was still a celebration, but the main event, so to speak - the screening of the live feed of the 'alala release - didn't happen. I guess they were having some sort of trouble with the tracking devices that the crows wear, so they postponed the actual release until that could be fixed (presumably sometime in December, they said). There were still some booths to check out, and I snagged a coloring sheet for my daughter and t-shirts for her and I... *shrug*

I can't really complain though, because my trip was pretty amazing anyway. I got to check out some heiau (ancient Hawaiian temples), and went twice to the volcano to watch the lava at night The latter in particular was really impressive. You could cut the energy in the air there with a knife. Pele is no joke.

I'm actually glad this topic was posted. I tried contacting my spirit guide/animal and got really confused. It was a tapir - which initially made me happy because I was hoping my spirit guide would be somewhat different- but it was just a baby, curled up on top of a mountain. Some people say that their guides spoke to them, but mine didn't (if that's my guide). Am I barking up the wrong tree? Has anyone heard of an "baby" spirit guide?

Maybe it is just not developed yet.

Tapirs are interesting because of their connections to magic and dreaming. They devour nightmares in Japanese folklore. They're called "baku".
