Crystal Skull Thoughts?

I was at a new (well new to me) crystal/rock shop the other day and saw crystal skulls and was immediately intrigued. They looked really cool and were reasonable priced, but I had limited funds and there were other things I was more interested in. But I was wondering what kind of experiences anyone has had with crystal skulls? What kinds of energy do they give off? Is it different than, let's just say, tumbled crystals?

As you say, there's the meaning of clear Quartz, and then it happens to be in the shape of a skull....which carries its own archetypal symbolism. I don't think the sum of the parts is necessarily greater than the whole...unless you consecrate and dedicate it as something else. Lots of crystal distributors take crystals like Quartz and amethyst and then shape them into points, wands, Angels skulls etc.....

I have a labradorite skull. It's usually on the Samhain Altar.
but I use it for ancestor connection anytime of year.

That must be beautiful, has it been carved so the luminescence adds to any particular area?

I have a few skulls, they guard my house and each one has an altar.

Each skull has a different energy and purpose, find the right one and they are magick!

Thanks for those links. They were really helpful. Now I really want one! Just too bad, that shop I mentioned is a good 45 minute drive away.

So I ordered a couple skulls off of eBay. A rainbow fluorite one and an amethyst one. They should be here within a couple of days. But I think I may take the long trip to the rock shop tomorrow and get one of those that I saw. I'll stop at a couple thrift stores in that area while I'm there.

The fluorite one likes having his picture taken. Just look at that big cheesy grin! Haha!

Quartz Crystals have lots of great energies that helps
lots of things. Other stones have energies also, in my
opinion, more "specialized" assistance, and are also
helpful. (paraphrasing Jaap van Etten)
The energy quartz crystal puts out is amazing, when
stones are carved into animal images the energy is
tripled. When the stone is carved into a skull it is
said to be 10 times the energy.
I have a person I deal with for most of my skulls...
she has awesome skulls with good energy, I don't
have to wait eons for them either !
I'm in the process of making a pentagram cloth
so I can put my 45 skulls on for a great picture.
I've read a few books on the subject, Jaap was
the hardest to follow in my opinion !
Just like any other crystal they can be programmed
for certain tasks, one must remember that programming
them for more than one job it confuses them and
the programming cancels each other out.
This one was helpful to me and I had a hard time
putting it down !

Experience: I've bought 99% of my stones from esty.com
I had a list of stone skulls I wanted for my skull family.
I've acquired some by offering a certain amount for
the skull and was able to purchase them. Now, I've
felt like some of my "stone kids" were meant to be
mine. Case in point my Nuummerite skull...late at
night I was cruising thru esty.com in search of a skull
of that stone. I found a 3in one she wanted $165,
spur of the moment I offered her $150 and she took it.
That skull had been there for awhile and that's probably
why she took it. Now, after I placed my order with
her invoice she set up just for this...I asked that skull
since I bought it will it help me get paid off in time.
Skull arrives in mail, heavier than it looks ! In no
time I had two 2-week long surveys on beverage with
one site and a 2-week long survey on snacks. I had
Sir Charles paid off in three months.
I did something along the lines of the same with
a 3in smoky quartz skull, paid off quickly !
The Nuummerite skull was on the bookshelf, I had
a bad pain in my head. I asked Sir Charles if he
could help, in thirty minutes that pain was gone.
My Amazonite skull calms me down, especially after
an argument took place in the house, she helps
quite a bit. These are just a few instances that's
occurred, other stories slip my mind right now.

There's a couple that have a black cover and the title
is quite similar, that I would imagine cuts into their sales,
either way they are both decent.
Now this one...Crystal Skull Magick is short but I liked it
especially since there's quite a few crystal grids in the back
of the book, and if you're into crystals too, you might want
to think about this one down the road or...? I haven't gotten
thru the whole thing yet, but I didn't see anything too
complicated... *shrugs*

While I may not agree about the 3X and 10X energy increases for animal and skull carvings, I totally agree that the energy does increase, usually a LOT! "Personality" in the stone seems to come out more too. some will say that it's "all in the head", but I believe that the piece lends itself better to being a home for a sentience to inhabit, kind of like a hermit crab moving into a shell.

I follow that the stone and crystal books and charts are good places to start, but the energy from individual stones (type and amount) will vary a lot (guess some of them didn't read the same books!) there's no substitute for being able to hold the stone/carving yourself, and feel the energy for yourself.

I know by personal experience the stone's energy
increases with carving...
I was paraphrasing that book, I don't know if that
denomination is correct, for instances, I have crystals
all over and some have stronger energies than other
crystals in my dwelling. I'm trying to remember what
he said, but since I gave those books to the library
for their book sales, so that's the reason for paraphrasing.
Yeah, 10x is hard to believe, but some of my skulls
are quite full of energy ready and waiting just like
some of my loose stones.
I was going to order a skull from my Skull Lady, but
I could not find anything on it, maybe it's one of the
newly named stones ? Anyone know anything about
"Plumite" ? How about "sunset stone", it kind of looks
like Tiger Iron with out the flash of Tiger Eye and
slightly more colorful.
