Meant to be OR just a mistake?

I have 2 situations that I really want. It's one or the other.

A- is only an option because of a miscommunication. But it was the thing I was REALLY REALLY hoping to get from B. Like being fine with trail mix, but really only wanting the m&m's. A is the M&M's. Will take longer to happen, but will be worth the wait.

B- was the original choice. Still would make me very happy and would likely happen within a day or two, a week tops. but I am a strong believer in 'everything happens for a reason'

A is the one that I really want, but B is almost equally as exciting. Like A=10 B=9.5

A is getting exactly what I want, but having to wait longer
B is picking at random from a hat and hoping I get what I want, but being happy with either outcome!

My point is, how do I know if it was just a measly miscommunication with no purpose, or if something is supposed to come from it that will be worth the wait.

For example, if there was a general job you wanted. You would be happy getting that job anywhere. But there was a miscommunication, and someone put you down for ONLY a specific location, which happens to be the #1 place you REALLY wanted. You would have to wait for a little bit to get the job, but it is guaranteed you will get the job. It's more of a when, not an if. (you already have a job, so your not going broke!)
You would be happy getting a job anywhere, but you do know this place was your dream #1 choice place to work.

Was the miscommunication just a mistake, or was it something more? It wasn't just some place you didn't care about, it happed to be for the very very specific 1 place you REALLY wanted to work.

It sounds like B is worth (approximately) twice as much to you as A, in the short term. So your choice could be pure science.

Nothing personal but your post is a bit like scrambled eggs. Since you suggest miscommunication is at issue here you must work on clarification with both. Being unclear is a problem.
Best wishes, FF
