Everything Under the Moon

Our dog Max has been very sick for the last few days. He's at the pet hospital now, and they've found a mass in his stomach. We don't know what it is yet, or even if the mass in his stomach is the only one. I'm extremely worried. He's a really good boy. Can anybody please point me toward some simple healing spells or candle magick I could do? I don't know what else to do. Any help is appreciated. Time is of the essence. Thank you.

Edit: I want to note that I know magick won't fix the problem and we're talking steps with the veterinarians, but it would really make me feel better if I could feel like I was doing something to help him.

First of all, I am deeply sorry for everything that is going on with your fur child. Both of my girls were really sick for a while and we almost lost them- it is truly heartbreaking and exhausting and I will remember you in my prayers tonight.

As far as a spell/ritual, when we discovered my dog's cancer I wrote my dog a letter in a simple communication ritual. I lit candles and wrote to her about what was going on as if I were speaking to a small child. I told her that she was sick, but we are working with doctors to make her all better. We reminded her that she might feel scared sometimes, but her doctors and her mom and dad were going to be with her 100%, every step of the way. Above all else, I told her that we loved her more than she would ever know. I gave all my energy to the letter and left it in her dog bed overnight, then burned it in the morning.

To me, it helped to assure her (and myself) that we were doing everything we can to make sure that she is going to be okay and that she is loved. When we were feeling uneasy, knowing that we did what we could to communicate nothing but love and reassurance to our girl helped to settle our nerves. Plus, I swear it worked... She walked into surgeries, chemo treatments, x-rays, and so on with confidence and was a happy pup throughout it all. For a dog with a severe anxiety disorder, it was pretty incredible.

I truly hope you find some sort of comfort in this stressful time. If you need to vent to someone, feel free to reach out to me. I am the crazy pet lady, I get these things completely.

Thank you everyone for your kind words and prayers. As for ritual, I wrote Max's name on a yellow candle, prayed and blessed it and lit it along with my God and Goddess candles. I'm going to keep Max's candle burning as much as I can the next couple of days. I've also written him a letter like smogie said. I lit my Air element candle as I was writing it, and carried my candle with me to his bed, where I placed the letter underneath it. I put my hand on his bed and said "Element of Air hear my prayer: Hold Max in love and light, and help him heal every night." a couple of times. Then I extinguished the candle and said it again as the smoke rose up. I'm going to continue to pray over his candle and change the phrasing to "help him heal day and night". I've never tried to do this sort of thing before, does it sound like I did it about right? From what I understand there are no hard and fast rules to magick, but do you think the God and Goddess will hear me? I do feel a little better about things now. I'll keep you all updated on our buddy.

That sounds like a very honorable way to help support Max spiritually. I often pray over my animals, repeating phrases using prayer beads. I also ask the ancestors of the animals to help give strength, comfort, and freedom of pain. Additionally, asking for my own guidance to help make decisions in their care.
