I need some help... Badly

I have a major religious problem, my parents are devout Christians and preachers nonetheless. But i never felt the spirit, so i started looking at other religions in a behind-their-back way, and wicca feels right and the baisic stuff i've done (sensing energies and such) feels good. But my parents are extremely close minded, once my sister thought its not bad to be Gay Lesbian Bisexual Transvestite (I beleive its cool, you are who you are), big mess. This is a new religon, one they dont understand, they think its devil worship (I used to think so but then i looked into it and like what i saw and have a few books). I wanna be wiccan but it would be VERY hard to hide in this house, and I dont want to wait the year or two till i can due to moving out. PLEASE HELP ME IF YOU CAN.

I'm sorry you're in such a stressful position. If it were Devil worship, we'd all be Christians.... the devil being a Christian concept/entity that has no correlation with Earth based religions. My best advice is to really read up and educate yourself on your chosen path to be able to speak calmly about it when feeling cornered. Make statements rather than allowing yourself to be drawn into a fight - the more mature you handle the situation the better.

IMO - When faced with people in my life that are antagonistic it also helps to know some facts about Christianity that sheds light on some of its misconceptions. It's a bit like making and firing your own bricks of knowledge and laying them for a firm base to reside on. And really, while living in another's home does warrant them respect it does not entitle them to ruling you thoughts and beliefs. If all else is blocked to you, find a quiet time to shut your eyes and meditate....

Hmm. It's not too hard to hide but... if you must tell, try purchasing some books about it. I actually think there's a lot of books specifically for educating parents of Wiccans so they don't think their kid is going to sacrifice a cat in their backyard or anything. It's a sticky situation, because you don't know how they're going to react until you unleash it on them.

Rifts, hope you are doing well. What did you decide to do?

I know all too well how close minded some people can be they are often just too set in their beliefs to accept anything other than what they see as the truth.. I would keep my thoughts to myself only because most likely your parents would totally freak out and this could cause a rift between you and them along with allot of problems that could probably be avoided. I would continue searching out your own spirituality and maybe here and there throw out a question to them just to see how they would react to it all.. i just wouldn't throw it all out at them at least for now I wish ya all the best.

wicca is not a religion

the only real religions are ( Christianity, Jew and Islam)
and all parties know that the Jew are wrong and will go to hell

Well, that is a rather narrow-minded, not to mention, anti-semitic view. What makes you say that when much of christianity, as well as some islam was derived from wicca or paganism as it is the oldest religion of them all. So, what constitutes a "real" religion? Are you even aware of the definition of religion?

1. a set of beliefs concerning the cause, nature, and purpose of the universe, esp. when considered as the creation of a superhuman agency or agencies, usually involving devotional and ritual observances, and often containing a moral code governing the conduct of human affairs.
2. a specific fundamental set of beliefs and practices generally agreed upon by a number of persons or sects: the Christian religion; the Buddhist religion.
3. the body of persons adhering to a particular set of beliefs and practices: a world council of religions.
4. the life or state of a monk, nun, etc.: to enter religion.
5. the practice of religious beliefs; ritual observance of faith.

Here are a few to tickle your fancy, you may want to read up on those before first attacking another religion. THAAAAANKS!

I agree with ShadowPhoenix, You are being ignorant Aradi.
Everybody has a right to believe in which ever religion that they feel is right for them...you are not the judge to say who's going to hell or not....only DIVINE (God/Goddess/Allah or whatever names other people choose to call the Great Spirit) is the judge of that. And I think you should leave it upto Divine to make that decision. Thanks

I encountered this Aradi on a previous thread where he made a poor attempt to prove me wrong.
Failing obviously.
I told him to learn some manners and that if he didn't learn to respect our views and realize that his own views aren't 100% true for everyone.
His visit here would be short and painful.
As I can see, he's not going to last long.
We have no use for people who are not open minded.

I saw that bats, I had been countering him really early this morning and I concur. We really don't have a need for those that are narrow and/or think their views are 100% correct 100% of the time and that his time here will be rather short if he persists.

First of all who said any thing about Christianity or Islam being derived from whicca

those are religions that had their prophets a heavenly

and Buddhism : Buddha was a good man who helped the poor and was good , after he died they decided to build a statue for him for the future generation, after some generations ppl started to worship him.

If you came here to learn about spirits and ghosts, why are you posting in the "christianity and other religions" thread?

Your telling us you want to leave out religion?

Then why would you come in here and say that all other religions are wrong and we're going to hell?

It seems like you were just attempting to start conflict.

And to Rifts. I think the best way to go about this would be 2 options.

1 would be to bring it to your parents attention, and educate them on it. Go about it in a no nosense way.
Let them know how happy and alive your new found path makes you.

My parents are the same way. The one thing I told my my mom when I came out of the broom closet to her, was this.

"Would you rather have me sit in a church every sunday of my life, and never ever feel fullfilled or connected to my religion? Or would you want me to do something that makes me feel fulfilled in my life, and spirituallity?"

In the end, parents want their kids to be happy.

The 2nd way, would be just leave it alone. If they won't accept it after everything, they just won't. So be prepared to have to hide a part of your life from them. As much as it sucks. I didn't realize how many people might not like what I've become, and who I am going to be. That's the hardest part of our path. Besides astral projection of course. ;)

But always remeber, You should be able to be proud of what you are. :)

I send you positive energy and hopefulness that your parents minds and hearts will be open to your choice.

Good luck.
-Tara
