Confused

I was once Christian and the whole reason I left that religion and started exploring was because of a lack of a female spirit or presence. Now I'm a Pagan and have been for the past 4-5 years. But lately I feel like if there really is a coming day where the world ends and all the damned go to hell and good ones live forever, what if because of my choice I'll be damned. What if the path I chose is the completely wrong one? I've been questioning this for a while and I could really use someone else's opinion on it.

Part of what makes the unknown scary is that it is ::pause for dramatic effect:: unknown! I believe with utmost certainty that life on earth is what you make of it, as is life after death. If you really believe that Jesus is the way to your salvation then perhaps you should seek out that path. You can't deny what is in your heart and if you're heart isn't in Wicca then perhaps it was never meant to be.

That being said, you should know that just because a vast number of people believe something to be true, and maybe inundate you with that belief, doesn't make it so. I really think if there was some catastrophic event that killed vast amounts of people their spirits would go to wherever their hearts lead them, Summerland, Heaven or otherwise.

Find what resonates with you, but also, don't worry too much about what is unforeseen and out of your control. You'll cross that bridge when you come to it. End of the world discussions can be scary, but so far they've all been a load bull. Science suggests that we've still got a good five billion years before the sun burns out, so do your part to help preserve the earth and we should be in the good.

Well ever since I left Christianity and delved into Wicca I've felt more accepted and comfortable.
I'm a big science nerd anyhoot and the whole '5 more billion years' thing helped too. :D haha
Thank you

Hey, Amanda! I'm an ex-Christian myself and if you're needing support please PM me! I've been there too. The Christian religion is big on pounding guilt and fear into it's followers. Notice how most people's reasons for staying ultimately boil down to fear? Is this a healthy way to live? I don't think so. What will help is remember why you left in the first place and that *returning* out of *fear* will not answer those valid questions. Remember?

And say it does all end up being true. You want to live a life of love and peace right? What does it say about a deity who will damn you to flames for being as loving and as kind as you can but...tsk, believed the wrong things? To me, it says ALOT. Do you really want to follow a deity like that? I sure don't. So I figure, if the Abrahamic god is the way and I'm wrong, I don't want to be in his company anyways and I'll take Hell over that. But I'm betting his followers got a few things wrong themselves.

I wish you peace! Contact me anytime, luv.

Yeah, that makes sense to me too :( Your explenation makes me think more on it, and it makes sense.
Thank you :)

I suppose it depends on just how 'christian' you were. I've never been christian or any other faith, I was raised in a completely non religious family so I can't relate exactly to what you are feeling.

Even before I became a pagan I never accepted this idea of "good" people going to one place and "bad" people going to another. I mean, who decides? What is 'good' and 'bad' anyway?

We all go to the same place when we die regardless of how you lived your life. Even people who do things that are generally considered 'bad' will go there because doing 'bad' is most probably the reason they are living this life anyway - it simply wouldn't do if we were all 'good'.

I hope you find peace.

"We all go to the same place when we die regardless of how you lived your life."

Excuse me? That's quite a statement and I'd prefer you back it up with some hefty evidence. Maybe start a new thread on it? Anyways...the ancient folk did not have a notion of "everyone goes to the same place". That's modern, monotheistic talk and it's fine for you but please, do not speak for everyone's views here.

My view on life here on earth is that we are visiting on a journey of experience and knowledge that we cannot get in our true form back home (spirit).
So we take a physical body to come here to live on earth for the adventure of life with all it's complexities and myriad of emotions and feelings.

I believe we are beings of light and energy who become weighted down in the negitivity of this planet and forget who and what we realy are while we live here.
In our true form we cannot experience pain, sorrow, sadness, seperation, physical love, emotions etc; so we come here to experience such emotions and feelings to help us grow in uderstanding.

Only our vehicle (our body) ages and perishes (much like a car) as it grows older. We do not die, we just leave this vehicles when we can no longer use it, or no longer want to use it, and go home.

I have many of the same beliefs as Sheelanagig. Try reading Journey of Souls by Michael Newton.

Remember Christianity is man-made. I believe there is a Higher Power called by many names. I think this is the God spoken of in the Bible. The Bible was written by humans and is interpreted by humans. It was also edited by Humans (the Council of Nicea). If research is done on the scrolls found in the caves of Cumram, you will find writings similiar to the Bible with subtle differences. For instance all talk of reincarnation was removed from the Bible that is presented to us today. I do think there is a lot of good in the Bible and it was inspired by God. Humans just messed it up. I believe God is a loving God and is the Source spoken of in Journey of Souls.

I never speak on anyone's behalf but my own.

My work with spirit over the years has shown me that there is only one place where all souls go after physical death. I have seen it and I accept it as fact.

As for evidence, I'm not in the business of convincing or proving things to other people, I'm far too busy for that, if you need evidence my friend you'll just have to go find it yourself.

I've also seen Criss Angel levitate. So while you can hold it as fact, telling someone else it's fact and that they have to believe you because you saw it is pointless. So yeah, so as to not be taken in by charlatans and people making spiritual claims that may not be true, yeah I require evidence. If you spoke for yourself, good. But your statement did not present it as such.

From now on I will point out that whatever I say is on my behalf only.

I usually do however. I've spent enough time on internet forums to know that just by expressing an opinion you run the risk of being called a 'know-it-all' or egostistical by someone who isn't too sure of their own beliefs and has to shout down anyone who may present even the slightest threat to their weak belief system.

I believe we all return home to our place of being.... that which we came from spiritually. What and where this is exactly - idk, but I will be glad to be there when the human form I took on cease to be.

... if it helps any, I followed Christianity (my spiritual foundation) for twenty years and always felt as though there was some thing more out there than I was being told about and I am finding that more by listening to my spiritual side.
