It sounded mostly like white noise to me. You know, kind of like when you put your ear to a seashell, only louder.

Anyway, "hell" is something the organized church made up to scare people into converting. You know, kind of like when parents tell their kids to behave or "the boogeyman will get you".

Pre-Christian religions often had an underworld, but it was no hell... just a place to rest up between lives.

There are some interesting theories about the center of the earth being hollow and occupied... which ties in with the lore of various cultures who depict spirit-beings as dwelling underground.

Oh pleeeze.... Obsession? Whatever, RuneGeek!

Mothman made an appearance in Point Pleasant, WV in 1962. He was seen by two couples around the ammunition plant in November '62. He apparently hung around Point Pleasant for a year and a month. There were many sightings of him, and strange things happened to that little town for that year and a month.

They described him as looking like part man and part winged animal.... thus the name Mothman.

Then on December 9, 1963, I believe it was, the Silver Bridge collapsed. It was around 5:00 in the afternoon, and there were quite a few cars on that bridge. Forty something people died that afternoon. That was the last time he was spotted, in Point Pleasant anyway.

They say he is seen before major tragedies... I know I've read where soldiers have seen him over the battle fields during war, and in Chernobyl, that April, when they had that disaster, he was seen.

It's really a strange story how I became a "fan" of Mothman. Strange circumstances surrounding it.
There is also a movie with Richard Gere called "The Mothman Prophecies". It's based on the disaster that happened in Point Pleasant, but it's not really close to what happened that awful December afternoon.

I think he is good, he is here to warn of these tragedies. He is totally misunderstood.

My husband and I went to Point Pleasant a year ago January. We went to the ammo plant, and I swear I heard his spirit there. Also, on the path to the igloos, where the ammo was stored, we saw a deer that had been killed in a way that no human could have done it. It was reported that when he was around Point Pleasant back in the sixties, a deer was found killed in this same particular way. Coincidences, I think not.

I, for some reason, just adore Mothman. I have a HUGE place in that pocket behind my heart for him.

:? Um... that's ridiculous. (Not aimed at the author of this post) Seriously, even if I did believe Hell was such a bad place, I don't see how it could physically be located under the surface of the earth. I agree with whoever it was that said it sounded like white noise, or maybe some sort of electrical interference with equipment. Or just an elaborate Christen scare-tactic.

This has been debunked awhile on Snopes as well as this Wiki article

Hell (though I don't believe there to be one) would not exist inside the Earth.

Wow... that's seriously cool! Be careful though... my wife may start hounding you for his autograph!

There were so many seemingly credible eye-witness accounts... I tend to be the skeptic in our family, but it's pretty clear that people were seeing something out of the ordinary.

I have photos from our trip to Point Pleasant on my MySpace page:

It really boils down to what one chooses to believe in, Hallow Him. While it's a good idea to not believe 100% of anything you hear, the same has to be said for the recording itself. I can conceivably create a computerized sound file of my toilet flushing and proclaim it's the sound of a massive whale-hysteria that took place somewhere under the Bermuda Triangle-- but that most certainly doesn't mean that's what it is.

Bottom line, if you believe that's the sounds of hell, then it is; for you. If you believe music being played backwards is the spoken message meant to deliver messages to the demons from satan, then that's true too (for the believer.) I can find experts to back up anything I want to have backed up as "fact" -again, that's certainly not implying that there really is any true fact there. There is honestly nothing that can prove or disprove a person's perceived truth, especially religiously speaking-- but do, in life, religion and everything you ever do-- question things.
