Is anyone else fascinated by her? I am hoping someone is and not because the Da Vinci Code is their favorite book, even though it is a good book. I have been fascinated with her for awhile and love talking about her and learning new things about her.

So lets talk about her, if someone else is interested in her. If not this thread will be kinda pointless and sad. It seems like people on here are interested in religions and not stuck in their little box like on the other boards I am on.

It's been pointed out (I don't recall by whom!) that Jesus was sometimes referred to as "rabbi" meaning that his followers thought of him in that light. Not only was it normal to get married, rabbis were apparently expected to marry... so it would have been extremely odd had he not been.

Do you think she's interesting because of the idea that she was married to Jesus and they had a child like in the DaVinci code? I think the book that he got this idea from called Holy Blood, Holy Grail- haven't read it, but find the idea unlikely. I really didn't like the DaVinci code very well, maybe I heard too much about how great it was before I read it so was disappointed.

I am reading the Da Vinci Code right now. I have been reading it for over a year, I cannot seem to really get into it.

I like Magdalene because she is so mysterious. Her story has been changed so much, I want to know who she really was. It is possible that she was married to Jesus. There is no proof to that one way or another.

I do agree with RuneGeek (sorry I don't know your real name) that it would have been odd for Jesus not to be married because of his culture. Most if not all Rabbis in the day were married. It would not make sense for Jesus not to be.

But I do find myself curious about Mary Magdalene.

From what I've heard and read about her... yes, she was the lover of Jesus, maybe even his wife. I would venture to guess they had a child or two. But what I find interesting is the "missing gospels" she wrote. I hear the good ole Pope is hiding them away in the deepest darkest bowels of the Vatican.

I also heard somewhere... that Jesus wanted to leave his ministry to Mary. He wanted her to carry on his word. Who knows.... might have been a whole different ballgame!!!

Like I said..... all of the above is just stuff I've heard from here and there. There maybe some truth to it, or not.

More about the books. Cause Da vinci code, is one of the slowest books written by Dan Brown.

Angels and demons has wayyyyy more action and conspiracy. Spend your time on that one and I guarentee you you'll be happy. and you might wanna read that one cause the movie's coming out and it actually looks pretty f*cking fantastic.

Or the book digital fortress. Also by dan brown.

I read all of Dan Brown's books... and I love the way he gets some facts and truth in them.

You can read part of the Gospel of Mary (Magdalene). The first 6 pages are missing though.

After reading the Gospel of Mary, Gospel of Philip and Gospel of Pistis Sophia, I would not be surprised if Jesus did want to leave his ministry to Mary. I am convinced she was the head Apostle.

according to the gnostic (the "first" christians) mary magdalene was either a lover or fellow student... or both. both were controversial to the brand of christianity we're familiar with. the gnostics were labeled heretics and put to death if they didn't recant their claims. dan brown has had a field day stirring up the faithful with some the old gnostic info.

Mary has been confused for the whore that Jesus saved in the bible from being stoned to death. Obvioulsy that is not true. Mary was the one possesed by demons and Jesus liberated her from them. As to her being his lover, or another apostle, the bible is clear that he had 12 apostles. Maybe since women back then were not really able to take on major roles, then certain things were ommited from the bible.
I am aware of the lost gospels, even the gospel of Judas. Sadly, we will never really know the truth about her. We can always read what others think, and a different point of view never hurt anyone.

The book below is a fasinating book, with lots of information not widely published.
It is not an easy read book, but it is full of information that can be sourced elsewhere once you know what you are looking for.
It took me 1 month to read this book, but in that month I was cross referencing the information and I was literaly blown away by the information contained in the pages.
