I am quite a strong person at heart and have dealt with poltergeists and bad entities during my time as a medium, but this really does not feel right to me.

Have you tried casting a circle around your home hun, to keep the energy from coming near you?
Has your friend ever done a Ouija board or dabbled with things they do not yet understand? Usually this type of entity uses a portal or doorway which has been opened.
Expelling or banishing an entity like this is not easy at all i defo agree with you there.

A simple saying a use whilst burning dragons blood incense when smudging homes is

' I do not stand alone. I banish you back to whence you came, I am the protector, the saving light, and your ultimate bane'

Do it with determination, without fear and stay as strong as you can. Bring your friend into the ritual also. Then scatter some protective gemstones around your home to help expel the negativity and a small round mirror in each window of your home.

That is absolutely crazy! I think you are in need of some serious circle work. Maybe you could try to cast a circle and start by recharging your athame and try a couple protection spells just to cover yourself.
