Getting started with tarot

I bought my first tarot deck when I was 19, but never really got far with it. The deck didn't really feel right or like my own. I'd really like to revisit tarot with a deck that suits me, but before I go does anyone have any tips or suggestions on what to look for before purchasing a deck? Do I just go with my gut feeling?

I'm certainly no where near an expert (I'm still learning my deck and how to read in general) but what I did, is I went online and just typed in tarot cards. I took a look at a ton of them unless one stood out to me. For me, I'm REALLY into medieval and dragons and I'm welsh and I've always wanted to go to Wales. Well a deck stood out to me and it was The Celtic Dragon tarot deck. And I'm all about some dragons! :) it meshed really well for me. Especially when you look at the art on the cards, how much the artist put into it and how you feel when you see the cards. I totally agree to go with your gut!

I'm excited for your new opportunity to pick out your special deck!!

There wasn't much of a selection when I bought it. But I've moved to a different area since and there is a store that I know should have a nice selection. A friend of mine also had a dragon deck and it was beautiful! I think I still have a picture of the reading somewhere. In my mind I have a vague idea of what it is I hope to find, and there are so many designs I'm sure it's out there somewhere. I'm really excited too!

I usually look and look and look, until I find one that just appeals to me. I rarely have anything particular in mind.
