Tarot decks and Wicca

Hi there ! Me again !
It's been almost five years I began to work with tarot cards. That is what brought me to learn about Wicca and magick. But that's not the point of this post.
I've always asked myself two questions, and I couldn't find the answers in books or in my entourage :
1. Can a tarologist read tarots for him/herself ? (I know all beginners start by themselves before reading for others ! However, after a long time, when you really get to know the cards, can you still, like, not be plugged by the definitions learnt and able to apply the messages to your situation ? Cause I feel the more I read my future, the less I understand what the cards tell me. Strangely, it works for others.)
2. Does a tarologist need a deck for him/herself and another for people ? (I work with two decks from Barbara Moore - Mysitc Faerie Tarot and Mystic Dreamer Tarot. I heard that tools - considering cards are tools - can be spoiled by other energies. I think this is what happened with the Faerie Tarot, which I used for pratically everyone...)
Thanks for help ! Blessed be )O(

Hello! I'll try to answer your questions based on my personal opinions and experiences. (:

1. You can read for yourself. There isn't a limit or a rule. However, it all depends on if you WANT to know what you're reading about. Some things that I would highly suggest NEVER asking about are things like illness, death, and anything negative such as that, that you would probably not want to know. I do tarot readings for myself all the time, and kind of like a check on certain situations. For example, I had something that seemed like a possibility this week and I was debating if it was worth going for or not, so I used a single card reading to see what it might say. I also use my cards to communicate with my deities directly, and it usually works. (:

2. I don't think a tarot reader needs a separate deck. I've never had any issues using the same deck for myself and others, in fact I feel like the cards are happy to be able to work with me on both things. I have a Fairy Tarot deck now, that I love so much but I've yet to charge it under the moon. I need to do that soon...
But yes, Tarot Cards can become tainted with other energies at times. You just need to make sure you cleanse them in the way you feel is best, and I would suggest not letting anyone else touch them or use them (you might know that already, but I'm reiterating. (: ).

I hope this helps somewhat!

My opinion is that by reading for yourself, you'll find out if your reading is accurate or not. Reading for someone else, especially if it's a loved one, they may tell you you're accurate to spare your feelings. Or you may get a querent in denial or not hearing what they want to, tell you you're wrong. In this case, you're your own accuracy meter.
When I first started reading, it was for situations that I'd have no way to confirm whether or not I was accurate. When I got my second deck a couple weeks ago, I did a reading for myself. The reading was accurate and I was pleasantly surprised. I was starting to think that I'd never figure out how to do readings.
Some people treat their tarot decks like they would any of their other magickal tools, and not letting anyone else touch them without permission. I feel that this is a personal choice of the reader. Some books do suggest letting a querent shuffle the deck a bit along with the reader, as a way to include some of the querent's energy in the reading. Having a separate deck for others to handle doesn't seem like a bad idea. In a way, it isn't too impractical since some people end up with more than one deck in their collection any how. On the other hand, just a quick cleanse in between readings will zap away any lingering vibes. :fairy:

Thank you very much, Sakura Blossom and Echo_of_shadows ! :)
Sakura, may I know how you communicate with your deities through the cards ? It intrigues me.

No problem!

And of course! (: I do the same thing, as if I were asking a question and doing a reading about that question, but instead I make it known I'm trying to talk with Them and then ask the questions directly to them, if that makes any sense. Haha.

To give another view, there are definitely people out there who really struggle with doing readings for themselves, sometimes because they have a hard time staying objective about things closer to them, sometimes for other reasons. Some people might only have issues reading for themselves on particular topics, and of course, there are also people who never run into this issue. It's something that can be different for everyone, but I do know a couple of long time readers who prefer to have others do readings for them because they find it more accurate.

Basically what the others said, different people have different preferences. :) I have a set of oracle cards that I don't mind letting others handle, doing readings for others with, and also using for my own personal readings, as long as they're frequently purified - but other people might have totally different preferences in that area, and that's fine!
