Tarot deck help?

Okay, so a few of my friends have been doing readings for me and I'm intrigued with the power behind the cards because so far each has been spot on. I want to go in on a deck and have found one that feels right in the store, but I have read that it is better (for lack of a better word) karma to be gifted a deck instead of purchasing one yourself. Does this myth hold any water or should I go ahead and get the deck?

Actually, I find decks call to me, so I think if one is saying ...hey! I'm over here, then maybe you should listen to it ::coolglasses:: :flyingwitch:

Tarot deck help?

Most of my decks have been gifts, which is really crazy when I think about it. My Vampire deck was a Christmas present from my Mom, and I couldn't have been more surprised since she is not open to discussing my occult interests!

However, the first deck I bought myself, and from there all these other decks came from nowhere (how did that happen, lol?).

In conclusion, I think you have to indicate your interest to the universe, and the universe will follow suit (maybe family and friends will too).

Where did you hear that, by the way? I have heard people other places discussing that idea, seems like it trips people up.

Thanks firebird, I'll probably run over and pick it up soon then~

Thank you for that insight, Violet! I hope after I get this one my luck is as good as yours was! I heard it from a pagan friend who has been practicing for a while. Her and her partner are pretty awesome and actually did my first reading so I guess you could say they started it all for me? :P

In my opinion, no.

Ya, I don't know, but it seems to be one of the ancient witchcraft urban legends!!!....

I have had many gifted and many purchased...my best reading deck is one I purchased, my oldest and most collectible decks have been gifted.
The most recent one that screamed at me is the Wild Wood Tarot....the imagery is very powerful, yet I am not terribly comfortable reading with them, go figure?

I know a lady that owns, I kid you not, about 25 - 30 tarot decks, and never uses a single one of them. She does not do readings, not for herself, nor for anyone else. She just loves the artwork, and enjoys collecting them.

I have tried a couple different decks, one I was told to try and one I thought I would like but wasnt too sure. Never went too far with either, I really didnt even like the artwork.

My Goddess cards however, screamed to me. Slapped me in the face and said where have you been all this time...

Every card speaks to me. I never felt a connection to the other decks.

I agree, no truth in that myth. You go with what calls to you. :)

Thanks all for your help! I guess I'll just chuck it up to urban legend then. I'm going to go out tomorrow and pick up the deck. I have high hopes for this~ :D
