Or sciencetist sometimes refer to it as SLEEP PARALYASIS?
Still others think it is astral projecting and not being able to get back into you body at the moment you have "woken up?"
Many people have presented me with theories.. And I'd love to hear everyone's take on it here.

Scientifically speaking, the majority of people experience sleep paralysis at least once throughout their lifetime.

Astral projection and sleep paralysis are two different phenomenons, however being paralyzed eases you to separate the astral body from the physical body so you will successfully astral project since in sleep paralysis the physical body is neutralized which makes it easier to project consciousness.

I suggest you to look up for these two different phenomenons and read some useful educational information about both of them.

I have AP before.. So I know what it's like, and I know what I'm doing... This was nothing like it. This happened to me in my early 20's.( I'm in my LATE. Thirties now) I've spent years studying this.. Studying SP. and it really doesn't seem to make sense to me. I was basically agnostic during that time in my life.(22) but had always been curios about the Craft. I just had been studying every faith out there. After the "event" I started studying SP, and something seemed off.. But I am not a scientist, so I just don't know....

I learned about sleep paralysis just the other day in anatomy and physiology.

The scientific reason for sleep paralysis is actually pretty simple. Basically, while your brain is sleeping, it works different than when awake. All the energy that was used to move around during the day is it towards other things whole you are sleeping. So, if you wake up suddenly, and the brain is still 'sleeping' then there is no stimulation telling your body to move. Also, sleep paralysis is a way for your brain to ensure that your body won't enact what you are doing in your dreams.

This feeling could happen when you suddenly get back to your body after astral projecting, because your body is basically sleeping while your spirit is in the astral world.

Hope this helps :type:

I had sleep paralysis once. Most people say they experience a force as if they are being sat upon or crushed from above (I guess because they can't get up) but for me, I felt like I was being pulled from below. I felt like the bed was quicksand or something and I was sinking into it, stuck and couldn't move.

My husband was in bed next to me, and I could see him. I didn't know what was happening, so I tried calling out to him. I could not scream, even though I wanted to. I tried reaching out to him but I could not move. It was terrifying.

I guess a tiny bit of whimper came out as I was trying to call out, because he said he heard me breathing kind of raspy, like my throat was whistling. Or perhaps that was just something else that happened while I was asleep lol.

Either way, it was the most terrifying thing that has ever happened to me. It didn't feel like AP at all, which I have done as well. It didn't feel very magical or anything at all, just really scary and strange. I think it's just a physical/psychological phenomenon, but not necessarily connected to any kind of thing like AP.

Yes I've had it really really badly once after meeting an incredibly toxic person. It was the only time i have ever felt hair-raisingly terrified and out of control from spiritual events. The thing had claws and teeth and would appear as what i thought was my own cat then dismember itself and suffocate/strangle me until i could move again and get out of it. once or twice I would feel an arm coming up out of the bed and manage to grab it and literally wrestled with it. My partner got real scratches. Several other people experienced sleep paralysis after contact with this same person.

After the events became progressively more physical, going to sleep at night was like Nightmare on Elm street. I eventually got proactive, the offending entity was cast into a doll then into a jar, then into the ocean. The night after we threw it away, I had sleep paralysis for the last time, and I could feel water rising up all around me as I lay paralysed. I believe that was it saying goodbye, somewhat angrily. Never bothered me again.

Afterwards I went to see a spiritual advisor who told me that although I had dealt with it, there was still a problem in my lower abdomen. I then experienced symptoms, and had a large benign (harmless) tumour the size of a grapefruit discovered and removed shortly afterwards.

To this day I do not know if that experience was intended to harm me, or whether it was intended to wake me up to deal with a health problem, or whether the health problem derived from that experience. It was extreme, but it was positive in the end and i have fully recovered. Feel free to comment.

That is terrifying, DM. I cannot event imagine having to go through I more than once, specially with all of those additional visuals and stuff. The only thing I can remember being "wrong" with my life at the time was that it was during a time when I was very out of balance and was having trouble finding balance again, suffering bouts of depression. But at that moment I was at what felt like a higher point in that time. If that makes sense.
