Lucid Dreaming

I remember that when i was younger i actually dreamed lucidly a lot. I would get into the middle of a night mare, or the dream wasn't going the way that i wanted it, so i would 'rewind' everything and try again. A few years ago after reading an article on lucid dreaming (i didn't know what exactly it was before then, i thought it was just a normal thing) i suddenly lost the ability. The only reason i can think of for this is that somehow reading all of the 'specifics' of the practice created a sort of mental block. I would really like to be able to do this again, and if anyone has any suggestions i would be very very grateful.

I'm not sure if this helps at all, but I do the same thing only not on purpose its sorta like i feel I HAVE to try again. Like something went wrong. BUt on most nights it happens, i just breathe in and out real slowly trying my hardest to slow my heart beat, and imagining a part of myself lift with each inhale. Like i said I'm not sure if that helps, but it's all i know.

That's very interesting, Laruna and Joe. I've never known anyone else who could do what you could do while dreaming. Robert Monroe wrote three books about his out-of-body experiences. When he would go out of body he was often given these tests where he would be completely immersed in a challenging situation (like flying his plane too low through an area with power lines in the way and cars on the streets below). He would be given the exact same test repeatedly until he responded correctly to the challenge (the answer was that he needed to land the plane on the city street below. He crashed whenever he tried other solutions, but then he'd hear a loud "CLICK" and he'd be back at the beginning of the test again.) Eventually he passed all the necessary challenges and he stopped receiving tests. So maybe you passed your tests and that's why they stopped. Maybe one of the tests was for you to finally ASK what the hell was going on, which you finally did do, and learn about lucid dreaming like your higher self wanted you to do. Or it could be what you said and your left brain is preventing you from being able to playback your dreams anymore. If that's the case, I wouldn't know how to fix that since I've not experienced it or read about it except for what I mentioned about Robert Monroe. His books are amazing, like nothing else I've ever read. You wouldn't believe the experiences he's had while he's out of body, but Monroe himself is so credible that it's hard NOT to believe him.

Joe, I can't believe you said that... that's a technique I've been able to use before too, using my breathing (on the exhale) to push my spirit up and out of my body.

Here's another technique that was really successful for me. After I had seen this "birdman" guy on TV (video below), that night I felt myself go into sleep paralysis and I had the thought that if I imagined myself being in a birdsuit that I could get out of my body much more easily. So I imagined I was wearing a birdsuit. My vibrations instantly sped up and I was leaving my body very quickly and floating up towards the ceiling faster than I ever had before (it's usually pretty slow-going). But then I thought I felt someone holding my hand and trying to pull me back down. I tried to jerk away from them, but that woke me back up. It turned out that I was still holding the TV remote and it was making my hand uncomfortable. But I was still really surprised at how well the birdsuit idea had worked. I'll definitely keep using it if I can remember to do it while I'm in that state. I'd recommend watching some videos of these birdsuit guys flying around and get that implanted real good in your brain so you can remember to imagine it when you're ready to leave your body again.

I'll tell you what else, Joe (since this is my favorite subject)... It's been shown that electromagnetic radiation waves from the Sun and other sources can seriously affect some peoples' minds. That might be the energy that you're able to pick up (that you mentioned in your intro thread). Some scientists have shown that by wearing a God helmet, which is a helmet with some magnets on it to stimulate your brain in certain areas, they can induce all kinds of experiences that are commonly thought to be spiritual - OBEs, NDEs, the feeling of having a presence nearby, the feeling of being connected to God... basically most of the things that people think are spiritual can be replicated by sticking magnets near your head in a certain way.

So if electromagnetism can cause OBEs then the question becomes, is there something about the EMR (electromagnetic radiation) that actually gets us closer to the spiritual world? Or does it simply disturb our brains and create hallucinations? I don't know the answer to that. It sounds you suffer from a lot of the same problems I've had throughout my life (and many other witches have too). I wonder if someday scientists and doctors will find a way to prove that we are all simply brain-damaged in some way and that we're just hallucinating the things we think are spiritual.

On the other hand, we could be the next evolutionary step in the human race - people who have access to both the physical and spiritual worlds at the same time. There have always been people who could do that throughout history, but there are many more of us now than there used to be (maybe due to the huge hole in the eletromagnetisphere around the Earth, which could be allowing more radiation to get to us). Try sleeping with all your electronics in a different room and see if you still have these types of experiences.

Do you suffer from sleep paralysis? Do you ever see people in the room with you or hear voices speaking to you? Oh wait, you already said in your intro that you heard voices. When does that happen? It usually happens to people when they are falling asleep or waking up (called hypnogogic and hypnopompic hallucinations), but if it happens in the middle of the day you could have narcolepsy. You might be drifting off to sleep for a second and not even realize it. When that occurs, your dreams can be projected onto the room around you, so if you dreamed about other people, you would think they were spirits.

I know I'm not helping much here. I'm just making things more confusing. But you seem a lot like me, like someone who actually wants to know the truth, even if the truth isn't as interesting. I'm still looking for the definitive answer to the question of whether I'm psychic, brain damaged, or mentally insane. Or maybe I just have a sleep disorder like narcolepsy. It's very confusing, but you're right to seek answers instead of simply believing the first person who gives you their opinion. Most people don't know much about these kinds of things. You'll need to do your own research (like you're doing now) and become an expert in it yourself. You'll get many different answers about this depending on who you ask. If you ask witches, they'll say you're an empath/psychic. If you ask a scientist, he'll say you're being affected by ELM. If you ask a psychologist, he'll say you could be schizophrenic. And if you ask a doctor at a sleep clinic he would probably tell you it's a sleep disorder. Just don't ask a paid psychic or witch doctor, because they'll probably say that you have a demon following you and that you'll need to pay x-amount of money for them to banish the demon for you (a scam, of course).

After that last OBE I had, the one I mentioned above where I imagined I was in a birdsuit, I was talking to Ron the next day and told him about the OBE, and I said that I wondered if there had any solar flares that night. He just happened to know (weird coincidence) that there HAD been a massive solar flare the very night before. I looked it up on the Internet and verified it. The biggest flare in recent history occurred only a couple of hours before I had the sleep paralysis/OBE. It's supposed to take a couple days for a solar flare to reach the Earth, but it turns out that there were other flares a few days before that one. So it's really got me thinking. Apparently that was only one in a series of solar flares that started early this month. I haven't connected all the dots yet, but I do think there's a connection. We are also in the midst of an increase in solar activity that will last until 2020. It could be Armageddon, just like the Christians want, but I doubt it'll have anything to do with religion.

Sorry for rambling on so long.

No, no, no ramble more if you can. Umm yes I have fallen asleep without realizing it at times. I could be sitting down I close my eyes, and feel myself snoring, but at the same time i know that I'm awake. And the voices are random throughout the day. I see shadows throughout the day as well. Mostly when i wake up in the middle of the night, and can't go back to sleep. And about the electromagnetic radiation thing do you think it's possible that Chemo radiation could have the same effect. My mother was given moderate amounts before the doctors realized she was pregnant with me during a cancer screening. I came out all right 10 fingers, 10 toes and I have no brain defects as far as I'm aware, well besides this if it turns out to just be brain damage. But then does that make sense? Because many in the "paranormal" society believe that spirits are just energy, couldn't it be we are attuned more around us, than others. I thank you for the information, I'm trying everything i can to learn as much as i can. Even trying to track down an old book that's been passed down in my family. Hopefully i can find it, and learn even more about causes of these phenomena. And wouldn't it be possible that the increase in solar activity also strengthen what we can do? just a random thought i couldn't get out of my head. =)

my theory since i had your problem before, is that you are too aware of your abilities and too hyper to be lucid again.

try to mediate more and try to control smaller things in the dream rather than completely rewind the dream the first time :)

16 years I've been able to do it completely and as of last year I can now do the one thing I've never been able to will myself to do and thats flight

So full control except that. Developed it when I had nightmares about werzel gummich for a few years then one night I realised it was a dream, raised my hand and stopped him moving, opened a black hole under him and he was gone, no more nightmares.

Heard lucid dreaming was rare to possess naturally without herbs or other facilitators
