Forget that, just sit up as I do, or lay on your back...the main thing is be COMPLETELY comfortable. I usually do a meditation prior to...with breathing excercises, in through the nose and out through the mouth.

To be honest, I dont like the whole, get comfortable, body still part of astral projection. For me, it just takes too long, and I have like no patience. When I did do it, it was by total accident, and I would hear the buzzing, but not laughter or anything like that. For me, it sounds more like binaural beats. For a more peaceful way to astral project, I use the lucid dreaming technique where I tell myself that I am going to remember my dreams and then in the dream I yell, "Im dreaming!" and then all of a sudden I become aware and my astral body lifts out of me at that very second. I really hate the whole vibration thing...in a lucid dream induced projection I have never had that problem.

1. Does anyone else hear these noises? They scared the shit out of me and I know there is the fear stage of Astral Travel you must get past but I was wondering if anyone else gets this?
-I hear noise sometimes, usually just "house" noise [i.e. whirling of fans, buzzing of the TV etc.]. I know you can get to a state in normal sleep and lucid dreaming where your brain replays things you've heard and retained. [i.e. Your third grade teacher yelling at you and calling you stupid or maybe a horror movie that terrified you for one reason or another etc.]. Even if you didn't remember it until you hear it, your brain does that sometimes. I remember once I was around 12 and I was in REM sleep and could hear perfectly a radio station, when I was in a house of complete silence. It was because I fall asleep to music and listenned to the radio a lot. It was replaying what I heard while asleep sometime before that night.

2. Are there any other more simple ways of getting to this hypogenic state? I kind of got lucky hitting this lucid dream and taking advantage of it, but I usually only get Lucid dreams about once every few months, and I do not want to wait that long again before a shot at this!
-Err..I do mine without thinking. I spent most of my 14th year in a lucid state. So I can do it really well now, but i'm also really good at shutting down mentally. So I can meditate in a noisy classroom full of obnoxious teenagers.
-As for other ways, there are but most aren't really healthy.
Sometimes narcotics [soothing ones] trigger it [so i've heard] and you can deprive yourself of sleep for a while and get there as well. Same thing with fasting.

3. Once I do hit the stage of being in my Astral, do you have any advice or tips on to do first? Are there any places I should see, or should I just explore? Or should I stay nearby and get kind of 'aquainted' with the zone?
Just go with it.
I never have a plan.
Go wherever feels like you need to go.

4. Finally, how do I leave the Astral? Will it happen automatically? Can I choose when by focus? Am I stuck there until it's "time" to leave? Can people wake me from it?
For me it happens automatically, I wake up from it.
This isn't a very good way of returning to your body, you won't feel grounded at all.
So you'll feel like your "half" here, on this plane and you'll feel incredibly sleepy.
You can return to your body by requesting to go back to it and place yourself inside of it.
Your not "Stuck" in the astral plane per se, but if you experience fear it will be harder for you to get back.
It's almost like your body pushing against your astral form and vice versa, it will give you quite a jolt.

Me too!! I was on the phone and I heard the whole conversation. When I woke up, I had to think whether it really happened. I had to remind myself I was asleep and traveling

I was also able to astral travel through dancing, in fact, it happened to me once during a performance. I was wondering why I could see myself from above and see the audience... a bit of a weird feeling, but I was thoroughly glad I didn't just fall to the ground. Things like that come more easily to me when I'm able to commune without a negative influence constantly in my midst, or when I'm able to block out their energy more efficiently. I was also able to get closer by beginning with a lucid dream. I had been trying to astral travel for about a month; I decided to not think or care about it for a few days, and then was easily able to at least reach the beginning stages while in a lucid dream state.

I also think not being in the right head space prevents a person from astral travel.

Those noises are hypnogogic hallucinations and they scare the crap outta me, usually for me it's a ringing noise that sounds similar to my phone so I think my phone is ringing. I am jolted back into normal consciousness so I can get the phone and then I realize it isn't ringing!
